What Red Rifle is this?

AK of some sort.

The rear stock appears to have the slant where it attaches to the reciever, just above the pistol grip. Some Valmet have that feature.

The mag has 2 distinctive fold lines running down the sides paralleling the edges, like .223 metal AK mags.

The gas block, in the picture, has a longer slope than an CZ type and there is a 2"-3" space along the gas tube before the hand guard, another AK feature.

I'd put money on a Saiga or Norinco

Thought it was a CZ/VZ (Possibly the one I had stolen in the mail) when the picture was first released, however the longer gas block tipped me off.

This is going to be a circus now here in NL. As if they didn't look hard enough when I had my VZ out already.
 
^ Going to the dogs here the past few years, mix of Alberta and Offshore cash. With the wealth comes the crime. Still though, I never expected this.
 
That is a weird looking magazine. Definitely not a Vz! (whew)

Sources said an AK-47 assault rifle was used to spray a home on Dauntless Street with bullets.

Thats a prohibited weapon! I hope the criminals realized they were in violation of the law by possessing that!
 
Norinco Type 84 .223 AK. Look at the barrel, it's one of the 18.5" ones made for our commercial market before prohibition.
 
Definitely looks like a grey GI mag too, I'm going with AK in .223 as well. I know the stock is definitely NOT vz.
