I hope that this doesn't sound to mundane but I'm starting to get that itch a little for the upcoming hunting season. The draw results will be available within the next couple of weeks and I'm hoping to jump for joy if I receive the mule deer buck special license. Regardless, the firearm I'm using for everything is my newly purchased Ruger #1 chambered in the 300 H&H. A couple more sessions of load development and it will be ready. What have you guys decided on?

Pick just one rifle for hunting season???? Laugh2

Sorry , but anyways to stay on the subject of mulies.......................

If I get drawn for mule deer, it's be a toss up between my 7-08 or 25-06.

700 with a 26" Krieger in 7-08

Vanguard pretty much bone stock aside from the Boyd's laminate.

OR my Hoyt if I get adventurous. ;)

I'm itching as well to get after my first deer. Won one of my draws for antlerless whitetail in a certain zone so I'll have a chance to take two deer this season. I'm a milsurp kind of guy so I'm thinking I'll take one with one of those, most likely one of the Mosins. Also wanna try out my crossbow or possibly the compound if ever get around to getting in some serious practice and taking the practical test.

I will carrying a Cooper Jackson Hunter in 7mmstw for all of my big game hunting. A second Cooper Jackson Hunter in 7mmstw will be my backup rifle. Both rifles wear Swarovski Z5 3.5-18X44 scopes.

A 700 LSS in 30-06 fitted out with 10 shot clips for Oz culling;and a corlane built Sako 75/McMillan/gaillard/mark 4 300 rum for crushing things.
For Moz Im taking a 458 Win 70 and Weatherby ultralight weight rebarrelled to 300 Win and mounted up with a 3.5-10 VXL3
Around home it's harder to say, my Cooper WC stw is supposed to be here one of these days, a Kimber select grade 7mm that is calling my name and perhaps a half dozen rifles that havnt been hunting but deserve a chance. May use a different gun everyday.😄
The Edge and Cheytac will likely sit a valley top too.

Probably use my .300 H&H Ruger No. 1 when I go out east (you copied me BTW Track). And my .280 for the mountains. Gotta take out my 9.3x62 at some point too, but it may still be a work in progress come fall.

For a B.C. mountain caribou backpack hunt the end of August, M77 Ruger stainless/synthetic 30-06, September Elk & Black Bear at our SK bush camp Sako custom classic AV .35 Whelen, November Mule deer around home, a Brno 21H 8x57IS, November Whitetails around home Rossi M92 carbine .357 mag, and Nov-Dec late season moose & whitetail Marlin 1895 SSGG 45-70. Could switch to my Krieghoff Drilling 16x16/7x57R for some of the bush hunts.

50 Cal front stuffer and TRT 175 xbow for white tail. Baikal double in 45/70 for bear. Stevens 200 in 25/06 for wolf and coyotes . 22 short for grouse and 410 for snow shoes and cotton tails

7 m rem mag for deer moose elk caribou and anything else I may have an interest in hunting. If I get bored of the 7mil I will switch to my compound bow.
