What Rifle Are You Using for the 2013 Hunting Season

SKS for whitetails in the fall.

Same here. Possibly one of my Mausers as well. Open sights ;)

Nah... lol, the season will be slim-pick'n this year. Will have to up my chances and go scoped.

Which will be interesting as most of the guys I will be hunting with shoot nothing but .300 WinMag and 7mm RemMag... for deer at ranges no longer than 200 yards. "all point" hunting I suppose.

Eenny, meenny, miney, moe............who knows.....the one that is sighted in likely. Oh ya and the one that has loads, instead of 10 empty boxes of brass.....I have a hunt planned, looking for an over 70" moose and there are some big bears (grizzly) in the area as well..........I'm thinking 9.3X300 WM would be perfect for this hunt. Lots of wallop and lots of reach. Still waiting for my 270 gn Matrix to arrive to work up a load for. Could take the 375 Safari, na it's too pretty for that hunt, which may get quite ugly. This would be a perfect hunt to "blood" the 340 as well.............eenny, meenny, miney, moe!!! But when it comes down to the last moment it invariably ends up being either my old 700 Rem 300 Wby or my 700 Rem .375...........always have loads for both and they're always sighted in.

This year I would like to go after whitetail with the 1895gs, full stocked 6.5x55, and tikka in 7mm08. Chickens and rabbits get a mixture of a very short 1022, a CZ style and a lever 44 mag. im not sure what I'll use if I get my moose draw.

For my first season in Alberta, depending on what tags I can get, I shall use the following rifles;

CZ 550 American 22-250 Rem for coyotes.

My trusted Sako 85 .308 Win for WT deer and mule deer.

You moved to AB Bellero? If you want to go put all those pretty custom calls to use and whack some yotes you should give me a PM come winter. I work out of Lloyd so I'm not too distant from Wainwright.

My old Winchester model 1894 in 30-30 that was made in New Haven CT the same year I was born which I am not disclosing but an assumption that the gun is a pre-64 would be a correct one.
It's dropped many a deer and moose and 1 Alberta elk with the same ole Green Box 170 grain Core-Lokt ammo. I think they called it Remington-Peters "Kleenbore" ammo back then. Still have a couple of boxes of that ammo that are as good as they day they were bought in my ammo safe.

9.3x62 for moose for sure... if the 7x57 is ready I'll be taking it for deer, if not, the Ruger .308 International, or I might just use the 9.3 for everything.

I'm still in Ontario for two more weeks, we are taking possession of a new house end of July. I sure will be looking for coyote hunting buddies come winter, I'll PM you. Thanks

Tough question! Depends on my mood for the day and what type of terrain I'll be hunting in.

But it should look like a toss up between:

- M-14S in a Troy MCS
- M1 Garand
- Full wood Lee Enfield

For close in bush whacking I'll be using my Marlin 1895 45-70 with a set of Williams peep sights.

And the trusty SR-22 will be slaying chickens again this year!

Got sum borgsassmord happening this year.
Chickens, CZ 28 gaugie sxs................................w:h:

And the BLR 358win seems to whisper sweet chit in me ear when I open the door...........
Schultz moans on a continual basis, so need to bring her along for the mewsy's.
The M65 will be the first one out this year, dang she's plum peeeeeeeerty and poi's are tight......
And then there's the bragg'in lumber stick too......:HFU:

Maybe I'll get a couple munnoply draws and git them all out there...............:pirate:

Well I solely bear and deer hunt with my 70 lb xpedition archery Xring 7 compound bow.

But for the good ole moose hunt I take my browning blr white gold medallion edition calibered in 270wsm
