What Rifle is Going BIG GAME hunting?

I will be taking my Sako Av 300 Win and my Kimber 84m 308. I don't go for a few weeks, I'm still working the loads for the Kimber, but the 300 Win is shooting 168 gr TSX's at 3100. The Sako now has a mcmillan stock and wears a Zeissconquest 3x9x40 in optiloks and the Kimber wears a Nikon monarch 6x42.

On another note Gatehouse, why not the 300 WSM, the Leeper special?

Doesnt matter if its deer or elk or swamp donkeys first rifle I reach for is
Remm700 Titanium in 35Whelan Imp.200 gr Barns over 2800fps.back up for
deer is my Canadian made M40A1 for Moose & elk Rem 700 in 338-300 ultra.
aLL Three sit in Mcmillan stocks and all were built by Lyle Linkaitis.

Me, me, I'm next to get in hear:p . First off comes moose season, I'll be carrying my Sako TRG-S in .338 Lapua, topped with a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10X44. I'll be taking a back up to camp, it's a stainless, synthetic Winchester Classic in 300 WSM, topped with a 3-9X40 Nikkon Monarch.

Whitetails will be persued with a .50 cal. T/C Omega in hand that's got a 3-9X40 Bushnell Elite 3200 on it. For our rifle season I'll take my semi custom Ruger 77 in 25/06 AI, the scope is a 3.5-10X50 Nikkon Monarch. If I decide to take to the heavy cover while deer hunting I'll take my rebarreled P-14 in 45/70, it's got a Tasco Titan on it that's 1.5-6 power, with a 42 mm objective. The 25/06 AI will also be used for caribou in January.

Whatever floats my boat when its time to head out, though usually it's my old stainless .270 ADL with the tupperware stock, takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

Not going for another 8 weeks :( But then I'll be taking the Tikka SS .300WM VXII 3-9x40 for Mr. Moose, and the Tikka SS .308 VXIII 2.5-8x36 for backup. Then for deer I'll switch the batting order:cool:

Moose, elk, and black bear: BSA Imperial featherweight in 338-06 shooting 225 grain Hornady SP @ 2740 fps

Mule deer, whitetail deer, and California Bighorn: Browning A-Bolt in 300 wsm shooting 168 grain TSX @ 3150 fps or Winchester M70 Classic in 30-06 shooting a 165 grain Hornday Interbond @ 2950 fps.

Wolf & cougar: Winchester M70 in 22-250 shooting a 60 grain Partition @ 3700 fps

Message to John Spartan: What no TSX, interbond, failsafe, or combined technology??? Todays deer are much tougher than in the past and if you don't spend $1 or more for each bullet the deer will just shake off hits!!

Rem 600 in .308 for walkin' around the woods, 150 Accubonds or 168 TSX as the mood strikes. It's a short, ugly rifle but it's a dream to carry and I don't worry about getting schmutz on it. Leupold VXII 2-8x36.

Win 70 classic in .338 for the sunset glass n' shoot, when shots at 200 are common, and 280+ aren't totally unheard of. 210 grain TSX for those quartering away shots with only a few minutes of legal light to go. Elite 3200 3-9x50 with firefly reticle thingee.

Rem 7 CDL in .243 (60 grain V-max) or Rem 700 in .220 Swift (40 grain V-max at .01% of the speed of light) for coyotes. The .243 has a VXII 3-9x40, and the Swift has an Elite 4200 6-24x40.

Gonna be a fun year :)

Deer... Rem Classic or Tikka stainless/synthetic in 6.5x55mm. Or Rem 700 in 7mm-08.

Black Bear... Rem 700 BDL in .30-06.

Moose... Browning A-Bolt Composite Stalker in .300 Win Mag.

It's what I'd use...
