Me, me, I'm next to get in hear:p . First off comes moose season, I'll be carrying my Sako TRG-S in .338 Lapua, topped with a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10X44. I'll be taking a back up to camp, it's a stainless, synthetic Winchester Classic in 300 WSM, topped with a 3-9X40 Nikkon Monarch.

Whitetails will be persued with a .50 cal. T/C Omega in hand that's got a 3-9X40 Bushnell Elite 3200 on it. For our rifle season I'll take my semi custom Ruger 77 in 25/06 AI, the scope is a 3.5-10X50 Nikkon Monarch. If I decide to take to the heavy cover while deer hunting I'll take my rebarreled P-14 in 45/70, it's got a Tasco Titan on it that's 1.5-6 power, with a 42 mm objective. The 25/06 AI will also be used for caribou in January.

Bronco, wasn't it you that had that georgeous 8x68?
Hear it call out to you, you must answer, it is your civic duty.:p

I'll be packing my 21h in 7x57 for sheep, moose, elk, whitetail, muley, black bear. 154gr Interbonds @ 2800.

Wow... just as many Short mags as 30-06 in this thread so far!
I am going to be using my Encore 50 cal M/L this year for Deer and Bear.
The 270WSM is going to get some work as well.

I am taking 2 with me for deer when I leave; I will use whichever one suits my fancy that day.

One is my Ruger M77 MKII LH 30-06 with a Bushnell Elite 3200 4-12x40mm. I am going to be using 150 grain Accubonds for a projectile.

My second is my T/C Omega with a Burris Short Mag 2-7x28mm. The projectile is a Hornady 250 grain XTP over 100 grains of Triple Seven. I just got her back last night from Ian Roberston; he has been gearing up a stock to replace the cheap plastic one that came on it. The stock is not quite finished, a few cosmetic things left, but she is shootable. I can say one thing for it, if the deer does not stay down from the first shot, can can beat it to death with this stock :).

Well,, I finally decided! My 6.5WSSM, or my 6.5 WSM, for deer .
UNLESS I'm still hunting , then my .58 Hawken or the .577.But for the long shots, the 257 Weatherby maybe, or ... DANG! Nope, guess I was wrong, I haven't decided!!:D

LE No.5 Jungle Carbine, Hornady 174GN RN, 4350. May or may not out the no-gunsmithing scope mount on it. Keeping them in the paperplate at 200m with irons. Should work fine.

Same for the bear.

On another note Gatehouse, why not the 300 WSM, the Leeper special?

I sent it back to Bill to check it out. (I think) it was the first WSM he had put together, and the throat may be a bit short.

I was experienceing high pressures with medium-high(ish) loads- SOmetimes.

Facotry Winchester (already loaded hot) would also give me high pressure signs (sometimes) Federal facotry ammo using 180gr TSX ammo woudl shoot fine, at published velocities, and extract nicely.

If I wanted to shoot Federal 180gr TSX ammo, it woudl have been fine!:)

So I sent the gun, some cases, my dies, some Federal ammo, Winchester ammo, etc to him to eliminate all the variables.

The gun was beautifuully accurate, feeds fine, chambers and extracts reliably, but velocity was low.

Too bad, as I relaly wanted to take that rifle this year. It's lighter and handles better than my 7RM, and it just *feels* awesome.

Hopefully it will be dione soon, and I can finish the season with it!
