What Rifle is Going BIG GAME hunting?

One of the problems with having "several" hunting rifles is trying to decide which ones will hunt each fall. ;) But I have a 700CDL in 35 Whelen that has not taken game yet, so it will probably go moose or elk hunting with me. 225 Partitions at 2700+. I have an antlerless muley draw, so my 6mm Remington goes there, with the 100 Partition at 3150. For trophy size Whitetail/Muley Bucks, my 700CDL in 270, using the 140 Accubond or [take note Richard!!] the 130 TSX. Backup rifle will be a 700SSDM in 30-06 [180 Accubond] or a 700 Classic in 8x57 [200 Accubond] or........, or........ :( Soo many choices, so little time!:D :D Regards, Eagleye.
 
well I just bought a new hunting rifle so it will be my only hunting rifle...

- Winchester Featherweight L/H 270WSM
- Leupold Vari-XIII 3.5-10x40mm
- Talley Rings and Bases

going to talk kurt into taking me hunting for either moose, elk or deer... would really love to knock an elk over.
 
well I havnt really worked up a good load for my savage 300WM so I guess its going to by my ruger M77 in 7mmRM for bigger critters and the Tikka 695 in 25-06 for deer. Although I have finally worked up a fantastic load for my winchester M70 HB 308 but its a bit heavy to be lugging around.

pre season and behind the seat truck gun will be a Win 94 in 30/30
 
Might have to defend a hapless co-worker from an upset/aroused moose. The Rigby might have to go just to make the boys talk. But it's strictly backup...I'm not a resident here.

I can't wait for April 14. And yes, our hunting season extends that far into the spring and beyond. Might get a 'bou just for the principle of things.
 
Well for my early Elk hunt I'll be using my Bow, Hoyt Vortec.

Next is my sheep hunt and for that I'll either bring my 30-06 Remington mountain rifle with a Bansner stock or if my custom 280 ackley Remington Titanium is finished then I'll take that one.

If I need to go elk hunting after the sheep hunt then I think I'll give the Remington bdl ss 375 H&H a chance.

For my whitetail I'll take my Remington bdl ss 338 win mag, very overgunned for whitetail but It was lucky for me last year so why mess with a good thing.

Later season mulies I will take my 30-06 mountian rifle due to the fact that the stock is lighter in color and will blend in better in the snow than my other black stocked rifles.

Of course my grouse hunting will require the assistance of my pimped out ruger 10/22

My goat hunt I will take my Ti 280 ackley

I might have to "sub" in my Sendero SF 300 ultra mag for a hunt or two just because I love that rifle and it always has been a killer for me.
 
For elk,custom built on stainless 700 action,chambered in 300ultramag,topped with a swarovski 3x10x42 scope.

For deer,identical rifle and scope in 7mmstw.
 
For moose a BAR in 300 win Mag
For CWD Mulies a Marlin 444S, M14S & Ruger 77 in .270
For Whites a TC White Mountain carbine in MZ season and a BAR in 7mm Mag for rifle
For coyotes a .17 rem & Sako Varmint in .223

That should about cover it
 
1954 Mod.70 in 270 Win. !957 Husqvarna 3100 Crown Grade in 30-06 And a Carl Gustaff 9000 in 7mm Rem Mag. Love the old girls..
 
I'll be using the Rem 700 30-06 Mtn Rifle Stainless in the WildCat Composites Stock.
Shooting 180 grain Partitions and might try out some factory 168 TSX.......

Also will be using Rem 700 .260 Mtn Rifle Stainless in Rem Ti stock with Talley Lightweights and 3.5-10x40 VXIII.
Load will probably be 120 TSX or 140 NP
 
- Stainless Remington 700 7mm mag bedded in a McMillian Edge stock w/VXIII 3.5-10 40mm held on with Talley LW's, shooting either Sirrocco 150's or Partition 160's.

- Kimber Classic 270WSM w/VXIII 3.5-10 40mm and Talley LW's, shooting Accubond 140's if it likes them.
 
Stainless Tikka M695 with synthetic stock in .338WM for Maurice Moose.
Stainless Tikka M695 with synthetic Stock in .30-06 for Bambi.
We won't talk about switching bolts in the .338 last year OK?:redface: :mad:
Oh yeah, after the first tag is filled and I have meat for the freezer, I'll try using the new (to me) 1885 Highwall in .45-70 with Holy Black, just for tradition's sake.:D

My choice is very easy this year althout I've got about 4 new rifles in the safe since last season to choose from - a sporterized 6.5-55 Swede, a Weatherby Mk V Ultralightweight in .30-06, a Browning A-Bolt in .30-06. However, I just picked up yesterday a lovely little package from Dennis Sorensen containing my new baby:

Rem 700 stainless receiver bedded into a McMillan fibreglass stock with a stainless Gaillard #1 contour 24" bbl. chambered in .270 Wby Mag. Topped off with Talley LW's and a Kahles 2-7x36 scope. It will do all my shooting this year. Need to get out to the range now and break in the bbl and work up a load for it - either 130 or 140 gr TSX or 150 gr. NP's, whichever it likes best.
 
The Rem 700 .264 Win Mag will sit in the safe this year as I did not get a pronghorn tag this year.
The Mark V .300 Wby Mag will sit in the safe this year because its too nice and well... thats what it does every year now.
The Sako TRG 21 .308 will sit in the safe this year cause shes a range queen.
The Sako TRG 42 .338 Lapua Mag will be the back up gun this year if something happens to my dedicated all around hunting rifle.
The blueprinted custom AB tac. rifle Rem Sendero in .300 Win Mag with 26" Rock Creek barrel McMillan A5 stock, Leopold MK 4 6.5-20x50 sitting in Nightforce ultralight titanium rings...should do the trick for the rest.
