I reload a little, just to feed my hunting rifles so have limited familiarity with "what's popular".

IF (IF) I was selling reloading supplies, what would be say the most popular powders to carry.

At the moment I am only interested in rifle powder, and nothing from Aliant which is still nowhere to be found.

I'm thinking IMR4350 (or H4350), Win 760/748 and maybe Varget (which is what I use myself), but what say the reloaders???

I'd pick a brand, and then cover the field. For instance, if you settled on IMR as your brand stock everything from 4198 to 7828 so when your customers have indentified you as "That guy with the IMR" they know you'll have them covered. Replace what sells.

IMR 3031 IMR 4064 IMR 4350 IMR 4831 IMR 4198 IMR 7828

W760 (H414) W748

H4350 H4381 H4831SC Varget H335 H322 H1000 Retumbo Benchmark

And of course even though it's unobtanium RL 15 19 and 25 lol, and maybe some 33!!

Norma's not cheap either, but very good stuff otherwise.

There are places in Canada offering IMR powders for $50/lb, although most places are around $40/lb. Vihtavuori powders are $45-$55/lb

Midway is selling Norma powders for US$28.49/lb which is about CDN$37/lb. They also offer Vihtavuori powder at US$40-$45/lb. So looking at the prices the Norma could be competitively priced here.

How much would Alliant powder be if anyone actually would bring some in?

If any business person follows through on this then please call me first so I can load up on Norma powders!

The guy at Cabela's told me that Alliant refuses the do a bilingual label, therefore cannot be marketed in Canadian stores. I have not confirmed this anywhere else.

i'd say he is wrong.
i was just at Firearms Outlet Canada and they have Alliant powders that have an additional "canadianized" label attached to the bottle.

The word I got regarding Aliant powders was "we should see some soon".

The supplier/importer that I have been working with to try and set this up told me that ATK is the (parent) exporter. It was his understanding that the US government (military) had been hogging up all the powder as well as a great deal of the ammunition (hence the shortage over the past couple of years), but since they are also the ones that provide CCI rounds, and those have started to flow pretty well again, that he "thinks" that Aliant may be on it's way again soon.

So take that for what it's worth (I heard it from a guy who imports powder that "heard it" somewhere).

And yes, with regards to the labels, ala francais, we often get items packaged in english only (or english and spanish from the US). The wholesaler provides sticky labels to be added to the packaging to comply with Canadian law and we affix it before it goes to the shelf.

Hello.
I just started getting back into reloading.
I have a M48 8x57.
I was using IMR 4350 but I could not find any where I live.
Sporting Goods store recommended Vihtavuori N140.
Any thoughts on this as I did not see anyone recommend this powder for reloading in this thread.
Thanks.
