What"s with all the picture hunters on the Exchange!!!

If there is no pictures most of the time I will skip the ad. Put lots of pictures in the ad and you will sell quicker. I have only had a few guys ask for more pictures than I posted.
It would have to be something that is really interesting for me to ask for pictures.
I have bought guns that I really wasn't looking for only because I liked what I saw in the picture.
 
I've been burned several times as well. Don't care to be mislead any more so I now ask for detailed pics if I'm really interested in an item. A few sellers I've dealt with should have gotten neutral or negative feedback but it just wasn't worth the battle as they would likely have given me 'revenge' feedback in return anyways.

Same with Trade Ex. Could be a $250 milsurp, but you'll still get a ton of nice pics.

Join the club.
But I don't hestitate to leave neg feedback if I can't work something out with the seller. Revenge feedback towards a buyer carries no weight imo.

If he won't give you as many pictures as you need. And have them in focus, run.
There are plenty of nice guns out there and judging by the guns that are on their second page of bumps, prices are coming down

No..... But you should have experience with something before commenting on it..... Especially when you say you move on when there are no pics...... Since you always move on regardless......

Especially when there's no picks and just because you don't happen to know about my trades or anything about me,don't assume there weren't any. Not everything is published just for your edification,you know. Laugh2

You're missing out on some nice rifles being moved along by some nice folks... such as yourself, as you sell on the EE.

Fair enough..... I have likely done 125 deals, and some folks don't use feedback, which is a shame because it's a great system....... So how many deals have you done without receiving a single feedback in 7 years?......
 
I have bought and sold quite a few items on here and I think your trader rating counts the most. If you have a bunch of exactly as described feedback my take on it is, I can trust you to fairly describe what you are selling. I too have been asked for numerous photos and as I take them I add them to my listing. After awhile the wafflers " time wasters " do tend to get annoying.

Best one lately was, can you send me a picture of the bore? Not a problem, I posted a clear pic of the rifling. The response was "0-10 what would you rate the bore?" This was a 1864 snider we are taking about. Most I have seen have a mediocre bore and how do I describe a 152 year old rifle? I don't know if I have ever seen a 10. My response was on the conservative side 6 1/2 to 7 and replied that I would consider his lowball price, since then nothing.

Between dealing with him and 2 other fellows over the same gun I said F it and pulled all my WTS. The gun show circuit is here and I rather sell face to face than #### around spending my evening taking pics of every screw head, todays paper, front sight, rear sight, buttstock, fore stock, left side, right side, butt plate, ad nausem.
 
I have found most traders to be very reasonable and honest... 400 deals and only one real problem and it got resolved... feedback is a good indicator... so is a clear description accompanied by clear, in focus pictures... the EE is an excellent resource for Gun Nutters, use common sense, ask the right questions up front and all is likely to go well.
 
The way I see it: Most weapons for sale here are simply toys. Expensive toys in many cases. If I wanna shell $$$ I need to see the thing just to tip me over into purchasing such an item.

Tip: Persuade me into buying with a bad ass pic(s)
 
Detailed description of product/condition backed by clean images from various angles will go a long way and many CGN'rs do diligently follow the procedure. Admittedly, not everyone will have the mindset to be that methodical.

What I find quite amusing is when the performance level of a rifle for example is simply qualified as - shoots like a dream, shoots like a house on fire, shoots as it should, shoots like a laser etc. :)

Oh, I totally agree Hoyt, but looking back at the cost of correcting a purchase to make it work with satisfaction for me or a potential future buyer makes it prohibitive.
I can point out rifles in my safe that I cannot hope to break even on because they simply would not sell for that sum that I have in them.

I have a few very simple rules when selling, first off the truth on condition, and secondly I will never sell anything for more than I would pay for it myself.
 
The worst thing I saw on EE was an ads with no pics, with the famous "send message for pics", which I did with my email asking for detailled pics...., never received any answer/pics/follow up on my request, the ads stayed there for at least one month including some back to top.

that was the first time I've asked for pics on an ad without pics, I will never boughter myself to further ask again for pics.

Some people are really disorganized, I'd wait a day or two and resend the request if interested.. and check your spam folders
 
For some people $600 is still a lot of money, and they want to inspect it as thoroughly as they would in person. Nothing wrong with that. If you think taking the pictures is too much work, just say so and you can sell to the person who doesn't care about more detailed photos.
 
IF they are asking for bolt face pics OF THE 280 it's completely understandable. Many are pushing the 280AI close to 7mag velocities, and almost as many are claiming to get those velocities from a standard 280Rem. I plan to get a 280 in the next few years and I will definitely be checking bolt face etc to see if someone has been trying to run it with hot loads.

Overall I have been disappointed with the pics or lack of them on the EE. If you don't have good pics get a friend with a better camera to help.

Luckily there are many gunnutz nearby me and I have been able to use the EE and still purchase a firearm and a scope Both from Islanders...one was coming to the mainland anyway and the other waited a week for me to get to the island so we could deal face to face.

If you think emailing pics is annoying try waiting all day for someone to come look at a used truck, they kept calling and saying they'd be over in the next hour. I was stuck at home all day getting nothing done, received 5 calls from a potential buyer who never came to look at the truck. Selling things can suck, but it doesn't suck every time.
