Hey all,

Since the move west, I have lost access to my lab grade scale for reloading, it was a sweet run while it lasted! Anyways, I am just finishing up my new reloading room and I am in the market for a new powder scale. I don't want to go full out for a RCBS chargemaster or something but something accurate enough for the work we do here in the Precision section. Just curious to hear what some of you guys are using these days?

I have an acculab vic-123 and just got a chargemaster 1500 combo. I don't use the acculab anymore. Probly will use it for 500+ yard shoots but the RCBS is way more convenient.
I would like to add a second chargemaster to my bench and then I would likely be seating bullets as fast as the powder dispenses. As it is the chargemaster has sped up my reloading substantially, I checked it to the acculab and I am confident it is sub 0.1gn in accuracy.
 
Accu-Lab VIC 123. All the ammo I load for will work at 1000 yards. I do not load short range(out to 600 yards) and long range ammo.
 
If you do decide to get a Chargemaster combo, Natchez out of the States generally has the best price and if it's shipped USPS there will be no brokerage fees. I wouldn't want to reload without mine.

I like mine so much, I actually have a spare sitting on the shelf. I did find issues with certain powders clumping up and overcharging, but a section of a macdonalds straw inserted into the trickler tube virtually cured that.
 
i'v been throwing charges with a lyman powder messure, just to get within .5 grains then i trickle each one on a rcbs beam scale to get it as exact as possible

kind of slow but i works for me
 
I've been using a Winstead Peters ACC-2000, which I picked up from Hirsch Precision for $139. Certainly accurate enough for our purposes.

X2! I have four of them. Ball powders can be measured within +/- .2gr and better using a baffle and culver drum in them so that's plenty accuracy for me without weighting each and every charge. That's what pro's are useing. One more thing; I only use the orange ones not "imported by" black ones....

Dream scale would be a Sartorius GD503 based on reviews on accurateshooter, currently own a rcbs 10-10. It seems fairly consistent, I'm definately not the greatest shot and got some 1/2 moa groups out of my shilen/ savage 6.5 lapua last fall (thanks Jerry).
 
Another vote for the GemPro250. Had a 5-0-5 beam scale but this one is worth the cash. I measured 500 9mm bullets on it and confirmed about 30 of them after the test was done. The results were outstanding with only a few of them being off by 0.02gn.


I didnt recalibrate or tare the scale throughout the 3 hour test, just once at the beginning and that was it. No need for flow conditioners or any fancy magic.
 
I'm using an RCBS powder measure to within .2 , then trickle up on a Winstead Peters ACC 2000.

I've put this scale through some tests trying to get a blip, but I've failed. The scale passed with flying colors.

Could someone using the Gempro 250 please tell me, does it measure to .1 or .01

The Gempro 250 is really only accurate to 0.02+/- but reads in 0.01gr

To put things in perspective, average kernel of Varget is 0.02gr.

Close enough for me as I am not going to start cutting powder :)

Google the scale and there are tons of options. For your 223 at LR, being that tight in your loads is a very good idea.

$15 pocket scale off ebay for my precision .223 reloading. It's repeatably accurate to .02gr.

A $15 scale accurate to. 02gr?

Highly doubtful.........might want to check those specs again. Might be .2 gr with a .2gr +/-but your not going to get .02gr accuracy for under $200.
