What scale do you use?

Been running an old Lynam autothrower that balances a beam and then double checking loads and manually trickling on a hornady beam scale for the last few years. It's gotten very tedious for shooting a couple thousand rounds a year.

So I ordered an Autotrickler V3 and FX-120i the other day. I convinced myself that time is money and saving a few hours each time I go to reload will be worth it in the long run.

I did the 5-0-5, Lee scale, gem pro 250, charge master, and now the fx-120 auto trickle

Should have done the fx-120 years ago. So simple and accurate. I just throw a low dose into the pan, put the pan on the fx-120, and it does the rest VERY accurately. While it is throwing I am seating a round, usually I don't have to wait at all.
I did like the Chargemaster tho - but the consistency and accuracy of the fx120 is at another level imho .

Scale???? You guys dont just use the little yellow scoop that lee gives for free with their dies? I rarely break a firearm... lol!

Actually, it is always fun to hear people laughing at those Lee "yellow scoops". When correctly used they are accurate, quick, reliable and ridiculosly cheap.....

Their only drawback is being of course not adjustable, but you can combine the use of two of more different scoop size to obtain an accurate load...

Still faster then a beam scale

Just saying

I have an RCBS 10-0-10 beam and DPS 1200 electronic. I trust the beam more than the electronic. The DPS seems to be accurate enough to charge cartridges that group in the solid mid 3’s.

Buy once Cry once, I have FX-120i with V3 Auto Trickler! 5 Seconds from empty cup on scale till cup is full of your desired charge weight and its accurate to within .02 grains!

I have not seen a balance scale in industry for 20+ years. They were all replaced by digital eons ago and to significant improvement in accuracy and labor.

The only benefit they have is that for a very low cost you can get something that works adequately for handloading. We have all used them and there is nothing wrong with using them. They are just not in the same league as a proper digital scale.

I use the RCBS chargemaster with its integrated scale to throw charges and then verify the charges on a second scale. The second scale is an Ohaus SPX123 Scout. I think they are ball park around $600. It has been rock solid. Zero issues and i have had it for years. I use it for more than just handloading so a worthy investment for me.
