What scope base for the Savage 220?

Not sure about the 220. I will just mention that when I had a 210, using the one-piece base that it came with resulted in numerous stovepipes when empties bounced off the base and back into the action. Two piece bases were essential for good functioning.

Savage long actions in general have the holes far apart, which can cause problems mounting shorter scopes.
I would be inclined to use two piece bases, and offset ring(s).

Checking my scope against the holes in the action, It will fit without extensions, but eye relief adjustment will be minimal (I tend to be a stock crawler, a holdover from receiver sight use). A one piece base and my existing Weaver rings (that would allow some adjustment), or a two piece with offset rings is my dilemma.
