I highly doubt i will shoot more then 50 yards with it and thats pushing it most will be around 5-20 foot shots. was wondering what scope will fit this need in about 1-4 power

Justin

A fixed 4X would probably serve your needs. Not sure of your price range but you might get by with a bit less expensive in a fixed power scope.

I have a Bushnell Banner 4-12x40 with AO (adjustable objective) on my Ruger 10/22, this allows me to adjust the paralax down to 50m.

Cheers

scope

What size targets are you shooting at?

If it is really small things like dimesize or smaller I would suggest going higher that 4x. Any variable that focuses down to your shortest desired distance would be good.

Bushnell/Tasco/Mueller for affordability.

At 5 to 20 ft you'll do a lot of overshooting with a scope, depends on height above bore. For a cheap scope I have a couple of Bug busters, one fixed 6x on a modded Crosman 2240 and a 3-9 for a Savage 64. Waiting for the offset mount for the Savage so don't know how it will work out. On the air gun for short range shooting in the garage it is great. Have a shooting gallery type target set-up with self resetting targets and a rotating gong about 20 ft. The 6x was impressive enough to warrant buying the 3-9 for my loaner gun. The rest of my scopes are a tad more expensive.

its a trapping gun and I have gave the red dot a good look but not sure I can get a good one for the price I can get a cheaper scope.. I have been looking at the vortex sparc and one of bushnells ...the sparc is just alittle high right now

Yeah, I think for your purposes that an inexpensive red-dot is the way to go. It is really tough to find a scope that will give you a clear image at 5-foot ranges. You might luck out and find one, but you will need to look through a bunch of low power scopes to find a model that will do this.

I'd look for a Leapers with an AO. I have two and love them, great value scopes. Crosshair is a little thick but that won't be a problem at short range. Glass is more clear that the tascos I've seen and I had one of mine on my M14 for around 400 rounds with no problems. The AO lets you focus in nice down to 6 yards.
