Hey there,

I'm planning on getting the Bushnell 6-24x50 30mm tube scope for my remington 700 vtr .223
I currently have the Leupold STD bases and STD 1" rings for my Nikon 3-9x40 1" tube. I was thinking of just getting the 30mm Leupold STD rings.

Would that be good enough? or should I get new bases/rings all together?

I don't care so much about looks but rather durability.

Thanks!

If your scope has only a 1 inch tube diameter then 30mm rings won't work unless you have a reducer to take them back to 1 inch in which case unless you plan to upgrade to a tube with a 30mm diameter you are wasting your cash.

Leupold standard turn in rings will work fine . you will need a set that is medium height or maybe depending on barrel diameter and if the objective is adjustable from the front a set of high rings. Use a 1inch allignment bar to ensure they are on straight when you mount your scope or you could crunch.

Leupold 30mm rings are good to go. Sure, you can spend a lot more, but unless you're dragging the rifle through the bush like a sniper, you'll never need a more durable set of rings. You already have the base(s) I assume. I've used 30mm Leupold rings and mount on my Remington 700VS and used this rifle in precision rifle competions for years without ever loosing my zero. They're solid and dependable :dancingbanana:

thanks for the info.
It's just that i've seen so many ppl on here talking about all these other style rings and what not.
i do have the bases so i just have to buy the 30mm rings.

thank you so much.

I'm not sure if they're available in 30mm, but the Burris Zee rings with the plastic inserts are nice. They'll stop the rings from marking your scope.
