Im goin to get out and buy myself the Savage 220f and im just wondering if anyone here has one and can maybe let me know what scope they have found to work the best or happy with. Right now i think im leaning towards the Nikon Omega. Any thoughts on this would be great :)

I have the same gun and I am trying to decide which scope to put on it before deer season. My two choices are:

1. Kahles 2-7x36 Helia CL

2. Bushnell Elite 4200 1.5-6X36

I am leading towards putting the Bushnell 4200 on it and calling it good.

Decisions.... decisions...

The Omega seems like an excellent choice although I have never owned a Nikon scope personally. The important qualities of optics for that firearm are that they are well built to withstand the recoil. 2-7 or 3-9x power will allow for close shooting and you will be able to see for those 150+ yrd shots. Leupold makes a similar reticle to the one you are looking at as well (SABR).

Yeah I thought the Nikon Omega maybe be my choice or other options i have been looking at is the Leupold Ultimate Slam or the Nikon Slug Hunter.
As you say I think im best to stick with a scope thats built to withstand the recoil and the 3 I have listed all are as they are a slug/ blackpower scope.

Have you tried the gun out yet, if so how do you like it ?

I have not yet tried it out yet; I purchased it over the winter and have only gotten as far as adding an Evolution Gun Works rail onto it.

It is my plan to get it out sometime over the next month or so.

I would love to see your range results with the savage. I chose the H&R over it recently as I couldn't get around the tupperware feeling stock of the savage and the great price of the H&R. My initial range results with the H&R were mediocre with the 3" accutip and 2.75" corelockt ultra. I mounted a 3-9x40 3200 bushnell that seems to withstand the blast. I shot steady with a lead sled and hope to do better with the winchester sabots. I have had great devastating expansion results on deer with the corelockt ultra slugs in the past but have found target grouping to be inconsistant with my remington barrel. Hornadys grouped the best for me but close range on a big buck proved poor expansion pass thru and led to a long tracking expedition.
I expected my best results would be with remington slugs as the new remi's and H&R share the same patented rifling but I haven't seen any breathtaking results yet. Hopefully you find a durable scope and complimentary ammo that makes the savage a real shooter. I do love the mag load and bolt action (and nameplate).:D The range pic is from 100 yds.

Well I hope to get the gun within the next couple days and then make my disision on the scope and soon after i will post the range results.
Tomorrow im goin to see what they have for scope options and see what most guys are using on the 220f. Who knows maybe i will have her by the end of the day tomorrow :)
Love the stock on that H&R but I do have a feeling that the Savage may do better at the range ;)

My Savage 210F is rigged with a Leupold Ultimate Slam 3-9x40mm with SA.B.R. Reticle. she K.O.'s 4 liter milk jugs at 250 yards off a solid benched rest.

Shoots tight groups at 100.. On a good day.. I will get 3 shots to touch pretty consistent..... But I have to clean her after every 4 rounds as she plastic fouls bad.

What ammo are you using?

Winchesters at 1850fps........ played with alot of different kinds...and spent alot of money finding out what she shoots best and her temperments.

I even got my hands on a few boxes of those Federal Fusion Slugs.... And best she would do was 2.5 inch at 100yards this past weekend. So I'll just stick with what she likes.

Where did you pick up the rail? Would be nice if I can find it somewhere here in Canada.
