What scope?

Only problem with the 2.5x8 and the 2x7 is that they are a little short between the rings for some actions. (long)
That's a good point! I've used both on 700 long actions and they both fit. Haven't tried them on other actions, so can't comment there.

My vote is a Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40 with either the duplex or try the BC reticle.

That would be a hard choice to beat, if money was no object.

'Course since money was an object when I was scoping my .300 Win Mag [Browning A-bolt composite stalker] I went with a Bausch & Lomb Elite 4000 2.5-10x40mm. It has been a good scope for me and it still on that rifle. Of course the equivalent scope now is the Bushnell Elite 4200. And since it's 10 years later and economic times are more favourable I just might opt for the Leupold VXIII if I was doing it now as opposed to then... ;)

If money was no object the Schmidt & Bender 1.5-6x42. If I was on a budget then it would be the Schmidt & Bender 1.5-6x42.:D What ever you do stay away from the high power variables, the high power is not your friend! Go for the wide field of view.

6x42 fixed power leupold

Peterson's "Rifle" magazine had an article on this a while back, and I always quote sources that I agree with. :) :)

The conclusion was that you can spend a fortune on a variable but if you want a scope that will never let you down and has enough magnification for any big game hunting at any range get a Leupold M8-6x.
