What scopes are you using on yer 305?

any pics of that beast? how high does it sit with your scope mount?

I mounted a Trijicon TA-70 designed for M1A and the ACOG mounts directly on it without adaptor. It also extends far enough back to give good eye relief. The TA-70 sits high enough not to obstruct shell ejection or bolt removal. ( I'd put a pic on if I could figure out how.)

The Burris Fullfield II in 3-9x40 is what I've been running on my M305. It comes with decent turrents (depending on which model you get, you may just have normal hunting turrets) and the reticle is etched into the glass. The reticle has a decent multicaliber BDC and wind drift compensation built in out to 500m. Most importantly, it doesnt clutter up your FOV. After some number crunching and calibrating, I've found that the 8x magnification setting will allow me to use the reticle dead on out to 400m with 150gr loads and 2" low at 500 yards.

I bought this in store after a side by side comparison with a similar Bushnell 3200 series scope. The clarity through the lense was far superior to that of the bushnell 3200 DOA, which didnt even come with target turrets for the same price.

Not a single problem so far and it holds zero perfectly after 800+ of rounds. If you ask me this was the greatest value for the money on a $300 budget. I spent two months shopping for affordable/reliable glass that wouldnt be more expensive than the gun, and this was what it boiled down to. If you had another $100 in your glass budget, the Bushnell 4200 had slightly better clarity from my side by side comparisons.

Whatever you do, dont skimp out on the mount, which is more important than the glass for the m14. Go with whats been tried and tested in the stickies. I hear nothing but complaints at the range I go to from guys who go with cheap mounting options. Buy once, and enjoy shooting without hassel.

Awesome amount of feedback , cheers :)
Im no marksman and shoot for laughs, with an eye to SHTF.
I only want to reach out to 6/700 yds to prove something to myself. I tried out the fixed 10x and its no use to me at all. Out to 150 yds I can hit a squash 8 out of 10 with iron sights. So what I decided on is a Bushnell or Leupold with about a 25-30x on a 40/50 mm lens.... just got to find one,it should be good enough for what I want, without going overboard....
Theres just so many to choose from eh and I dont want to end up regretting the purchase..
Thanks again for all the input...great help :)

Leupold Mk4 2.5-8x36 Illuminated with M2 turrets. Worth every penny.

I didn't have a lot of money to spend on an optic, but I didn't want something really cheap either. So I got a Falcon Menace 4-14x44 FFP.

I'm very satisfied with it for the money I spent, its great for any distance I want to shoot my M14. I just really need a good cheek rest now to make it more comfortable to shoot.

where did u find that scope mount? iv been searching and searching but i am slow in das brain.
I have a Leatherwood HiLux scope on mine,

But that will change next year. I want to get Leatherwood's M1000 (see http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006GZDEIS/ref=asc_df_B006GZDEIS2063321?smid=A30DGGRQPDAP9Y&tag=nextagusmp0382367-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395105&creativeASIN=B006GZDEIS). Wolverine carries them.

Because of the beating during cycling you really need a good scope.

One of the best and it beats Nightforce: Leopold Tactical as used by most tactical and benchrest shooters! Here is my rig:

I have NEVER had a failure with Leopold on ANY rifle or handgun. The two that I did not use Leopold, both failed! Be advised that Bushnell and a number of others do NOT make scopes. They only do marketing!
Henry;)

That is a Troy MCS with a Magpul PRS stock attached to it. The Troy is hard to get in Canada I think, fairly rare.

the troy chassis isn't so hard to find anymore, a large shipment of them just landed.

lots of board sponsors have em.

Not to hijack the thread but is everyone using low/medium rings?

No problem with the Objective bell hitting the handguard?

I don't want the scope any higher than I need to.

it depends what mount you are using.

also, you may not have trouble with the handguard, but the rear sight.

with my arms 18 I used low with a 40mm objective. no trouble except for the rear sight.

with my casm i'm going to be using low with a 42mm objc.
