So what scopes are you using on your .22's. Target or hunting. I am building my first 10/22. I ordered a GM 20" fluted stainless barrel and a composite black stock. I will use for target and hunting. Comments on quality of some of the cheaper scopes would be nice.

I think your better to get a good scope, and not worry about ever having to replace them again. I have learned that, and now I like to spend at least $200 on a new scope. I have a Bushnell 3200 5-15 on my 10/22. On my targets guns I have a fixed Leupold 24x40 and a Weaver T20 20x40. Each of these are great for target, but would be useless for any hunting. On my stricly hunting gun, I have a Bushnell 3200 3-9x40.

Bushnell 3200's and 4200's have always worked extremely well for me.

Snobby Leupold shooter? Leupolds are OK I guess....if you cant afford Zeiss scopes. :p

My rimfires....
Buckmark Carbine: Holosight
Rhineland R-22: 3-9X32
Rossi single: 4X28 "mini-mag"
10/22 3-9X32
.17 6-24X44 Simmons pro-hunter (GREAT scope for 200 bucks)
Voere semi 4X 0/A

For target AND hunting? I'd definitely pick a variable....a 2.5-10 4200 would do well. In fact, theres one on the EE right now.

The only thing to watch is paralax....the C/F scopes are often set at 100 yds, so get an A/O model.

For a cheaper scope on my .22 silhouette rifle I am using a Bushnell Trophy 6-18X. The nice thing about this scope is that the AO ring is marked in 40,60,77,&100 metres for shooting those pesky little metal silhouette animals. This lends some repeatability to the scope.
