What shooting glasses are you using?

Oakley prism lenses…. All PRIZM lenses are made of Plutonite: Oakley's proprietary lens material. Plutonite is a high-grade polycarbonate material that is highly impact resistant.

I have found nothing better to wear for golf or trap shooting.View attachment 702486

Yes, some designer glasses are polycarbonate but most are not. The thick top bar is also a problem for many shooters and many people have trouble with the wrap around design fogging up. Also, thick plastic arms will not seal out noise when using muffs so shooting glasses use thin wire arms for that reason.
You can wear whatever you like and I'm not saying that you NEED to have shooting glasses but they are tailored to a shooters needs so to poo poo them only shows a lack of knowledge.

I would not want that low style of glasses with such thick frames. They would not sit high enough for me to take that heavy frame out of my view. I like Rangers.

I agree. I'm sure the Oakley's are great for golf but not as good for clay's.

There are better choices that will give you a larger viewing area when your head is on the stock.

Something more like this guy wears:

Just kidding of course. I too wear Rangers.

while I think that there are lots of good glasses.. 5ish years ago I wanted Pilla's, but bought oakley tombstones, which are fantastic glasses and I was very happy with them wore them (90% of the time).... but on certain days, found the red tint a little dark. so I found myself needed about 3 different pairs of glasses, oakleys, a cheap pair of clear safety glasses and some dark tinted polarized glasses for super sunny days (which I hardly ever wore). After 5 years, and my oakleys still being in great shape, I decided to sell my Oakleys for about $150 and put it towards Pilla. If I have the Pilla's for 10 years (which is totally doable) ill be happy.

I had a nice set of Tombstones / 4 lenses...they were great..used em 4-5 yrs..no issues with them other than my SIL wanting them all the time..lol.

So, I now have Pilla's, here's why..

Always said I'd never pay that kind of money for " shooting" glasses, but about 2 yrs ago, a couple of colleagues of mine were working on a trap machine in the bunker. Power was off, BUTTT ((...there's always a but in these instances...)) unbeknownst to them, the machine suddenly fired with a partial clay on the arm...hit him right on the face...right on the Pilla lens !!!!!!
POINT BLANK RANGE !! Hit so hard it blackened his eye, surrounding eye, and cheekbone was swollen bad(day or 2 after the fact) ...the lens hit his face so hard it cut him open...there wasn't even a mark on his lens !! Unbelievable ! He says THIS is why he wears Pilla's.
This is why I now do.
Mind you, I'll never be in the trap house, doin what they were doin, but still...my old blurry eyes are all I got. Cheers...Kevin

I had the chance to barter a couple of older used rifles I got for nothing...cleaned em up and functioned them. Traded them towards my new glasses. These covered 2/3 of my initial package of Pilla's so this progression was a no brainer for me.

Years ago my buddy had some old shooting glasses, the kind with Browning and Remington logo's on them. He wasn't using them and had decided to throw them out but instead we came up with the wonderful idea of shooting them with a shotgun. At ten yards the blast of target ammo completely disintegrated both sets of glasses so we then decided to grab a pair of new safety glasses, these didn't have any logo on them but our club purchased a case of them and they claimed to be polycarbonate. These glasses soaked up the target load without shattering, they weren't usable afterwards but they held together and probably cost less than what the logo'd shooting glasses did. So no matter what kind of glasses you like to use and what logo you want to have on them you need to make sure they are actually safety glasses and not just plastic which can shatter and take out an eye!

I have the Ranger Phantom 3 lens set which a bit to be desired. I am hoping to upgrade to pilla soon. I use Oakley sapphire prism for bright days and they are incredible. I wish they made more lens options. The orange jumps out so much with those you wouldn’t believe it unless you try them. They are just too dark for anything but bright days. They work great for sunny days with snow on the ground.
