What shot size??

I was wondering what shot size you would recommend for shooting upland game out of a Mod. barrel?? I have been using 7 1/2 but found I don;t have much range at all, Im used too shooting out of a full choke w/ 7 1/2's
Is a mod barrel used for hunting upland much??

I use #5 shot.

Modified for most upland is a bit tight, but it might be perfect for prairie chicks or pheasant.

I use IC or SK here in NB for grouse and woodcock, with either 7.5 or #8 shot.

SuperCub, That's my "recipe"... Improved Cylinder is the perfect choke in my opinion...

IF you're shooting Sharpie's on the bald prairies that flush at 20-30m then I would stick with the Mod choke but move up to #6 shot. If you're shooting Pheasant or Ruffed/Hun's at 20' then open it up to imp cyc or skeet and stick with the 7.5 or 8.

Im shooting a 12 guage pump and shoot all upland game at various distances.
