What shot would you take?

Personally I would wait for a better shot
The 1st guy to turn broadside would be in the freezer.......

If I was horn hunting I would wait for 3 or 4...but probably would take the first decent broad side shot

As I expected we have the bell curve here. On the one side the extreme "careful" who would not shoot at all. On the other side the "reckless" shoot em all no problem few.

And I reckon the majority are saying "#5 and #3 are makable but wait a few seconds and see if things get better."

So what your saying is if a bullet hits flesh and bone it will always continue on the same path and won't shoot another elk in the ass. I see

rifle bullets especially 30 cal and larger don't yaw much. Also when #3 turns his heart lung block will be in line with his left shoulder. After going through the chest and shoulder a .308 (my rifle) would have given up its energy. Also the elk closest to #3 is higher up on the hill and not in line (#2).

# 9 has put the run on these wanna-be's and is just outside the photo. I'll wait for him.

Or, #3 and #6 in that order if #9 doesn't present a decent shot.;)

I see whee Old Hound states, "All but 1 and 6."
I'll go him one better and state that with my 30-06, good bullets and from the sitting position, I would take any, including 1 and 6. A follow up shot would likely be needed on some, but none would get more than a few yards.
Regarding #1, I have made this exact shot on a bull moose running away from me and he just lost power in the rear end and slithered to a stop, down. Just aim right at his tail.

There is no ethical shot available in that picture.

To say there isn't an ethical shot there, is pure BS. .

I think your looking at a different picture.

Not so quick to slam NShunter...For him there might not be a shot there that he is comfortable to take. That's the thing about EHICS, they are yours and yours alone.. It's ''your'' moral principles, set by "you" as an individual....
I like to shoot running deer, many think its unethical.. Oh well! I don't agree with baiting deer, but don't consider it unethical... I feel that hunting out of a tree stand is more waiting for a victim than it is hunting, but not unethical, because I find it less than sporting even though I do it...

That being said if #5 was out there alone I would take that shot all day long...#3 most likely! Because there are that many out there I would wait for a perfect shot...Why rush it?
