The Sporting Rifle forum has a similar thread I thought I would start one for the Scattergunners.

So let hear it, what di you shoot your first bird with?

Mine was a Hen Mallard on the Rideau river with a Winchester 1300 which was my second shotgun but the first I paid for myself. I bought it from Brian Dwyre at GunMart in Brockville for 300$ with two choke tubes and a box of shells. I was shooting Winchester X-pert 3's. I only winged her on the first shot and it took two more water swats to turn her belly up, I don't think I will ever forget that morning.

First bird I ever shot(with a shotgun) was a Ruffed Grouse also with my first shotgun a .410 Remington 870 Express that I got from a buddy.

Traded a Sony Playstation for it... I was 15 or 16 at the time.:)

~15 years and too many guns to count later it's still one of my favorite Rabbit and Grouse guns.

Mine was a pheasant with a Franchi Falconet 20 guage in 1967 IIRC.
My son shot his first bird, a pheasant, with his gamba skeet gun with briely 28 gauge tubes in it.

Shot a teal with my Dad's Ithaca 37 when I was 16. He still has it and one day I will too.

I was 14 and shot a teal, with a Brazilan made single shot 12gauge full choke. I bought the gun ( he did, I paid, at the time ) at Canadian Tire. Very nice gun, and wow what kick it had!
