Just wondering what shot gun I should get basicly I dont need it for anything pratical just want to get one for the heck of it.. also around what price should I be looking at paying?

I might shoot clays or just plain old targets was looking at the mossberg 500 jic I liked it because it came with a nice case that you just throw it in and go but I can always buy a case....

Im 6ft 3 270lbs.. so Im not a small person and lots of recoil isnt an issue.. just wont shoot it as much (saves money on ammo):p

I've had both a Mossberg 500 and a Remington 870. Both are fine and popular. The Remington might be a little better and was my second shotgun. Just watch the quality of the one you get. I didn't buy the first one I saw off the rack. First one the rail looked waivy and crooked. You might want a used older Remington (Wingmaster) as they made them nicer a while back. Just make sure you get one made to shoot steel shot, if that's something you might shoot out of it (at waterfowl).

Need more info. Do you want a pump, semi or break action? My first SG was a remington 870 supermag. Had it for a week. Complete POS. Took it back and got a Benelli Supernova. Never looked back. Wicked pump gun. Once you start busing clays on a consistant basis it is a hoot. Not to mention felt recoil is almost half that of what the Remington was with the same loads. The Mossy's seem to be a decent gun although I have nerver shot one. Shot gun ammo is cheep for clays. Way more so than centerfire rifle. 100rds of 2''3/4'' 7 1/2 for about 30 bucks. Pump is probably the way to go for a first gun. More than one shot available and no cycling problems associated with some semi's. If your just going to shoo clays or the odd bird a break open is always an option for a cheep gun.

Grizzlypeg hit it before me. The older Remingtons are not an issue. The newer ones leave much to be desired.(From my experience, bad heat treat, bad chamber ream and fit and finsih.)

I've postponed my buying of a shotgun, so i'll transfer on my wishlist to you as suggestions :D.

If you scroll to the top of this page you will notice dealers, you say the gun is not for anything practical, just to have? Why not go for a short barrel, they come in the non-restricted and restricted variety. Prices vary, but you get what you pay for ;).

Try the "Canada Ammo" and "Blue Line" if you want a short barreled pump.

These guys in Maple Ridge carry the same shotguns as sold by "Canada Ammo" if they interest you and want to check one out first hand. Never dealt with them, but they don't have too large of a mark up for their inventory compared to the "Canada Ammo" prices.
