I'm looking for a compact 12 gage. Don't care if it's tactical or not.

Preferable to me:

1) 12 gauge
2) 18" barrel or LESS.
4) interchangeable chokes in a choke brand that is readily available.
5) suitable for left and right handed use.
6) synthetic furniture would be nice, but not a must. I don't want rail sections on it.
7) Generally snag free. No rail sections and such to snag on my gear.
8) tube fed. No magazines please. This is for general purpose bush carry, so I'm stuck with 2+1 anyhow.
9) reliable with good prospects for parts availability in the future.
10) As inexpensive as possible while still reliable and meeting above criteria. I'm not looking for $1000+ boutique shotgun.
11) reasonably light.

What are my current options?

Best bet would be a older model 37 Ithaca for left hand person. A mossy 500 or a rem 870 will do the job . Dutch

I have a 37, great gun, but 2,3/4 only, no chokes, no synth furniture, barrel on mine is 26". It's also not a beater. Mine's a pre-war set with multiple barrels in nice condition.

I don't mind right hand ejection, provided it's lefty safe. I've had lots of mossy and Remington guns.

I'd go for an older defender Winchester 1300 or a new sxp camp field combo. Both can be plugged to 2+1.

You won't likely find many guns with an 18" barrel that has choke tunes.

Unless all these new Turkish guns are being made like that.

Thanks for the advice all. I've just ordered the 12.5" DA Grizzly with bead (not ghost rings). I'm thinking I'll add the regular compstock and get a second 26" vent rib for it for choke use when I need this as a backup gun for water fowling. (Main WF gun is a Beretta A391).

The little 12.5" tube will be great for walking around my acreage.
