What should Canam bring in next?

.45 colt still isnt as common as .44 mag, not these days. I cant say I've ever seen it cheaper too, the only people shooting .45 colt nowadays is cowboy shooters, and most of em reload far as i know. .44 mag is popular in lever rifles and handguns alike, with a few other types of rifles available in the caliber (semi auto rugers and the like). if you want to use a lighter load, you could always buy .44 specials... or reload the .44 mag as required. IMO its the best balanced cartridge of its type for stopping power and recoil, and with the pointed leverevolution ammunition you can get now, quite capable at longer ranges than before.

I do like the .454 though... or the .460 XVR (which is an extended .454... so it takes THREE sizes). .460 is expensive as hell though, and .454 isnt much better.

I would never ask for a tube-fed rifle in .460 S&W (look at the tip).

Oh, and the barrel needs a progressive rifling. It would NOT be a budget gun.

Another alternative would be the .357 Maximum (a beefed up .357 Magnum which is a beefed up .38 special which is far more popular than .44 Magnum).
 
I still say a beltfed in 7.62x51(or anything 7.62 for that matter) would be something most on here would enjoy and buy if the price was right. The question is, Whats too much to ask for? I mean, are we asking for them to practically redesign and produce something? And we want it for cheap no less?

What limits do we have CanAm? What is plausible?
 
A revolving action rifle would b next on my list after the 1887 clone... I'm just a sucker for cowboy style actions though :)

I suspect that soft pointed tip on the .460 would be OK for tube feeding (it looks identical to the leverevolution ammo which comes in several calibers, and is intended for use in revolvers AND tube-fed rifles). I forgot about that progressive rifling thing though, the .460 is just WAY too fast.

.357 is an excellent plan, I agree. both .357 and .38 special are quite common. I didnt know there was an extended .357 mag! thats cool news.

I still think .44 mag is better though (what can I say, I'm a fan of the big bores).

also, its interesting to note that with the good powder/primers nowadays, the old .45 colt can be loaded to perform with 10% more velocity and power than the .44 magnum... but only in a newer, stronger .45 revolver. that being said, the possibility for overlap means that few ammunition manufacturers would ever produce high powered .45 colt ammunition, for safety reasons. too bad, since its really an ancient cartridge and would be cool to continue using it (I suppose the casull mag is a fitting replacement though :p)

short but not to short 1897 clones with pistol and full stock...just over 26inches with the pistolgrip would be nice!
