Just bought a Taurus .22 rimfire revolver form a dealer ( forum sponsor), and arrived today. I found a very obvious ding on the cylinder. I know it's more complicated for firearm. It can't be returned easily as regular merchandises. What will you do if you are in my shoes?

Please feel free to share your opinion and experience.

Thank you in advance.

P.S.

Googled, and found a similar situation, the buyer contacted the manufacture and got the replacement of the cylinder with ding. But he's in US.

I would contact the dealer that I purchased the rifle from and return it/exchange it. If the dealer is reputable they will replace/exchange the item and cover your shipping costs. Don't hesitate to call and ask.

Two things
1) if it bothers you contact the dealer and see if they'll exchange but thats a pita with a restricted so see if theyll swap cylinders or if it dosnt bother you that much
2) see if they give you a small store credit to make up for it and just keep it since in all honesty it isn't that terrible but it is still there.

Its a small ding , but it bothers a person a little. You paid hard earned dollars for it and you expect something nice....who doesn't.
You sure wouldn't have seen this years ago when every Manufacturer was putting out Their Best. I have owned older S&W hand guns that were so beautiful that you didn't want to shoot them. Nowadays a lot of CRAPY workmanship is showing up all over the place, even on high end guns. You read about the complaints every day now. No more Pride in anything anymore.
" Give me your money and get out of my face and suck it up if you aren't satisfied." Is the new attitude. No body wants to be accountable anymore.
I'm off my soap box now LOL

Apparently, it won't affect the function. I was disappointed about it, and also the whole package doesn't look like a brand new product. I really don't know if I am too picky for this. Is this normal in firearm sales?

Sadly its becoming very common for poor quality products, its alright to be disappointed I would be too you just have to decide how much it bothers you but I would start by talking to the dealer and see what they offer. Maybe they will swap cylinders instead of having to transfer the gun back and wait for approval then getting a statt to the post office only to have to transfer another gun and start over. Its up too you but I would give them a call in the morning and see what their willing to do for you.

The cylinder has the same serial number as revolver. It's very stupid idea.

I would also contact the dealer to return it/exchange revolver or dinged cylinder.

Obviously it bothers you now, so it will probably bother you every time you pick up the revolver.
A store credit or partial refund will very likely not fix that.

All depends, what is not acceptable on a BRNO is pretty much to be accepted on a Norinco knockoff....but the price reflects it.

I emailed and called yesterday, but was told the manger won't be in until Tues. I will call again.

Actually, I was planning to get S&W 617. However, I was also buying a 686-6, and was thinking to try something different. This was how the story began.

I would like it replaced, to me any marks on a gun that are from normal use, movement of parts, i.e. cylinders swinging out or rotating, slides sliding etc etc are ok, that is not normal, someone dropped it or banged it.

That ding will not affect the thing in any way, but just the same, talk to the dealer.
Taurus has a really bad customer service reputation though. Despite their Unlimited Lifetime Repair Policy. That you have to enroll in.
A new cylinder(there's no S/N on parts other than the frame) will require fitting by a smithy.

I had the same issue with a CH22 receiver. Had milling marks all over it plus had issues with the bolt not working with the charging handle.
Wanstalls was the dealer. Good guys to deal with. I emailed them and Tactical innovations. Pics and vid. Sadly the whole run that Wanstalls had had issues. I sent it back at my cost and got a lesser ugly one. TI sent me a new charging handle.
This seemed to fix almost all issues.
Pain in he neck though. Buying locally does have its advantages.
