What should I do?

So I bought a Savage Mark 2 a couple says ago in Mississauga but haven't gotten a chance to get out with it. The gun looks really great all except for the the obnoxious stickers Savage put on it. Now I've never seen anyone leave stickers on the stock of their rifle so I began peeling them off.

The one on the fore end came off easy and the one on the stock did too until it started peeling off the wood!

What should I do? Am I in the wrong? Has anyone else had this problem before?

I've never heard of that, but you are definetly not in the wrong. Stickers shouldn't peel the finish off. Call whoever you bought it from (Lebaron I would assume) and return the gun. Any idiot would be able to tell the rifle hasn't been shot. Now if they give you a hassle, then contact Savage directly. I actually spoke to the plant manager in Lakefield last year as my order was taking forever and he was able to help me out. Great company.

I wouldn't want a rifle with a damaged finish before I even got a chance to fire it.

My $0.02

Next time try windex and a hair dryer/heat gun there is always bug and tar remover works well for glues. Gasoline is my last resort to cut the goo. All jokes aside I agree with the post above try taking it back

^perfect advice. Adhesives can gain some strength with time (mostly, they dry and become less pliable) and let's face it, any Savage rimfire stock...except Boyd's made ones...isn't exactly a high-end finish. So, it's an inconvenience, but one that the vendor and/or Savage should remedy without a problem.

I really really really hate stickers.
Frack'ing things cause more harm than good.
Put the things in the box with the peelers left on them.
Warning, use at yer own risk.........

Yea I can understand having one on a display gun in a shop but who is actually going to leave them on. At least if they were not stuck on anything already I might put them on my tool box or something and actually use them. Now I'm just ticked off at Savage because it's more trouble than it's worth to have to fight my way into Toronto to get it replaced with a gun that they probably don't even have in stock.
