What should i pay for a Cooey model 60?

At $150 I would pass. There is something funny about the stock, never saw one like that before. I sold one that was in much better condition in Dec for $150.00. They do come up on the EE, just have to wait for it. The writing on the barrel makes me think the rifle was made right before Winchester took over.

Actually the price is what someone is willing to pay dependent on condition. I sold a very nice one last year. Listed it at $175.00 and it was gone in about a day and I had 3 interested parties. However, the gun in question doesn't warrant that kind of price. It's had a different buttstock grafted to the pistol grip, the pistol grip had brass tacks on the bottom and the buttplate definately isn't Cooey and it has some tassel hanging off of it. Plus the bluing is not in great shape. It is a "Franken" gun.

That stock looks like it's all one piece, judging by the wood grain.
It appears that someone whittled the pistol grip a wee bit to make it more defined.
 
If not interested in it as a collector all that matters is that is shoots well and is reliable. I'd go for 100-125 as that is a very fair price for a bolt action 22 by todays standards. Have one in the safe that's in good condition that shoots just fine for a 60 something year old rifle.

I think you're building a trend on a single anomaly, you must be an American banker.

I have almost a dozen model 60's, some of them have fired more rounds than ml of urine I've pissed away in my life, and still feed & fire perfectly. S, L, LR ammo all works great, and I've shot subsonic quiets and tons of stingers. Sliding tube mag is an economical and rock-solid design.

I paid 60$ for one and 100$ for another. Two great guns though. the 60$ one was in better shape then the 100$ one :)
 
You should be able to find a 60 in almost pristine condition for $200 or less. Filthy action, bluing gone, butchered stock, God knows what the bore looks like. I don't know that I'd even pay $50 for that.

Repaired 60/600's & other similar guns are the best you will ever own as tirekickers / weiners don't want them. All the better for you, as they will be around when you need them. Mr. Cooey knew what value was about.

I traded a totally refinished Model 60, Model 39 and a winchester model 67 with finger grooves....for a complete tire change and balancing included. Not sure if that answers the question as to what a model 60 is worth.
