i've got an opportunity to take a poke at some wild hogs, and can't decide what to take. everything i have will do the job, but having a hard time choosing. help me decide!

I don't really care for any of your choices, I'd prefer a larger cal. levergun with a peep rear sight and fibre optic front sight. Cal. should be .35 or more and bullet should weigh over 200grs....this is assuming that you are hunting/shooting in close quarters as is usually the case with hogs. I like the .356 Win.,38/55,.44,.444 and the best of all the 45/70.

I don't think he wants to buy a new gun to shoot a few hogs...

Close quarter shooting, you can't beat a 20 ga pump or semi slug gun, throwing a huge chunk of lead.;)

Further out I'd go for the Brit or the Krag...

all these guns i am comfortable using in field positions, and they all have open sights or peeps. the .358 norma throughs a huge chunk of lead fast and hard, but might even be overkill on a small pig.

Kevin, Until the piggies got contained out here the favorite caliber was a 22 mag, rimfire that is in a levergun. Sure they used a 270 too but it just was not needed for the guys who can shoot.

From your list I picked the 30 USG. Only reason being with the carbine I got so chambered I am quite intrigued by how well it shoots and want to hear some feedback on how it kills.

Take the Krag!!!!!!!!!

Well Kevin, I've seen you shoot with the Krag and you can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. Unless you have had the sights fixed, please leave that at home.

You seem to shoot the 303 pretty well, so I would take that one. 180 grain soft points should be just fine. If you want to borrow anything, let me know.

And I shot my pig with a 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser. It was plenty.

i got a krag load now that will shoot minute of pig out to 75 yards or so. which is fine for the bush.

I agree with Ben, A good old Win 94 in 38.55 would be perfect on them ugly critters.
