What should my next .45 be?

I was a SIG guy, but have since been pulled to the 1911 "darkside."

Just buy one 1911, and more will follow. Believe me.

I'm definetly looking at the S&W 625 now. I've always loved shooting revolvers and would love to add one to my collection. I'll pick up a 1911 sooner or later. I'm just waiting for the perfect one for me to come along.

It took a while, but I just joined the 1911 club also. I got a Para SSP. There's something about the trigger, the balance, the reacquisition, the look of the thing.

I still like my Beretta Elite II. It's definitely European in style, in finish, in detail. It, too is beautiful in its own way. And, it's great to shoot, in its own way. The feeling I get--and it's completely subjective--and I might change my mind next week and regret posting this--is that the Beretta fights you, but the 1911 helps you to shoot accurately.

For some reason I haven't figured out yet, though, I was getting much tighter groups with the Para right out of the box than I get with the Beretta after lots of practice. It might be the sights, or it might be the trigger, or it might be the grip. Or it might be a combination of all of those things.

I can remember laughing out loud when I had a field-strip contest with someone--Beretta vs. a Springer, I think it was. I stripped and reassembled the Beretta before the other guy got the .45's bushing off. That was important then. It isn't so important now.

The .45 ACP is a most addictive pistol caliber, I have a good assortment of them, including a S&W 625 which I highly recommend (no chasing brass)!
A 1911 type should also grace your .45 collection; a pre or series 70 Colt, Kimber, Para Ordnance, or S&W 1911 would do you fine.

I'm a fan of the 625 as well. if you want an auto pistol, go with a good 1911. The Bul M5 variants sold by Marstar are good quality and good value.

Very well, and yes .45 is occasionally tough to find.

Its not quite a Nighthawk Vickers gun -- but considering how and where (and by whom) it was build -- I am impressed how it turned out.

Fitting the parts was a ##### (as you've heard me moan elsewhere) -- but we ordered a drill press (the A Team ain't got nothing on us) so the next few guns we rebuild (especially the Dawson rail drill and tap) will not be quite so imperfect.

My vote is for 1911 as well, I have a Tanfoglio Witness 1911 .45ACP and even doing my own reloading for it. Awesome gun, a gunsmith reduced the trigger to around 5.5 lbs, to match my Glock. I have never fired any other .45's so have nothing to compare it to but it is awesome!
