What should you pay for recycled Range lead?

Curious to hear what people have to say. My local range owner offered to sell me lead after to asked.. at literally 10 times the price per pound that the two local scrap yards sell for.
 
I got some from a range that used rubber tires for back stops. It was full of rubber and wire. I set up a wash plant to clean it then melted it down. Between the hassle and the jacketed bullets and the plates bullets I recovered very little for the amount of work involved. Don't get me wrong it was free lead and I got lost but I'd pay very little for it if I had to pay.
 
Cleaned and in bars, about the normal price, a buck a pound.
Pick-up or screened off the range, ...as is, maybe ten cents! I screen lots of range lead, a ton or two a year. Bring it home, wash, dry, fire up the burners, sweat, flux, clean dirt, re-flux, clean dross, and pour bars. All the jacketed stuff is a pain cause it squirts lead 10 feet, so stand back! And often there's more volume of copper jackets than lead, ....time consuming as hell and you can't peddle the copper cause there's still lead wash there. If you have the spare time and the volume, it can be good, .....but if you put a value on your time, I hope you're satisfied with minimum wage!!!

Realize most of this averages out pretty soft, so be prepared to harden with wheel weights or lino.
 
It depends if I help clean it out, then it is free. 10 cents a pound other wise. My range it was 1/3 copper jacket, 1/3 paper and 1/3 lead. Wear protective equipment when cleaning it out of the range. A respirator is a must.
 
Cost of my propane and a couple of coffees.

I can recover a couple hundred pounds in a morning.

If I had to pay, I wouldn't pay more than .50/lb. You should still reclean it and may get more garbage out than expected.
 
Local indoor range has collectors behind the backdrop....rumor has selling for around .30 cents a pound although scrap yard may be paying that ....was curious if it was worth paying the .30 and processing although may have just found an alternate source from a recycler.

if it was just bullets (lead/jacketed/plated) i would offer them 40 cents a pound, i barely have 800 pounds so if i have to spend extra time in the "smelting" process so be it.
