What size gong should I get for 5-800m shooting?

I'm going to buy at least one gong from biggerair, and I'm wondering what size the experts on here would recomend. He already does a 12" gong that would probably work, but I thought it might be a tad small for 800m. So should I go with a larger custom size, maybe 24", or is the 12" going to be adequate? Truthfully I will probably focus on 600m and in, but I should be able to get to 800m at my place. Any other relevant comments welcome as well.

18" would be good. 12" is good for out 500 then 18" to 800 and then something wider after that.

MOA sized gongs make things very challenging. In time and practice/confidence, the 500yd gongs will start being used at 800yds.

I agree with Jerry. Besides, if your gong is too easy to hit, move it further away!

10 or 12" out to 1000, bigger after that.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm going with the 12" gongs for now, and I'll see how they work. I can't imagine shooting at a moa target ie 1200yds for my 12" gongs, but hey if I can hit 12" at 800 with lots of practice I'll be a happy camper. As said I'll definately start closer, should be fun.

Why not just get a piece of bristol board and cut it into whatever size you think you need, set it up where you plan to shoot and have a look at it through your scope to see if it is big enough?

Although some of my shots make it into the 1 MOA v ring, with iron sights and old eyes I still need a 4 MOA black aiming mark on a white backboard

If you can shoot precisely I'm sure it is. I posted in this forum, as I thought it would have the most experience with long range shooting.

Well my 12" gongs arrived today, they look great. I probably won't get shooting at them till sometime in the new year.
