I'm getting tired of looking for the staple gun when working at matches.
So I would like to buy my own.

But there seems to be a plethora of different sizes of staples.

Is there any one size that's considered the "Standard" size for hanging cardboard targets?

We use Dollarama 3 buck staplers at our club. They take a JT 21 size Arrow staple, found at CTC. I have my own in my kit, it's lasted for years, so far.

Okay. It sounds like "T-50" is the answer.

Next question is; Which T-50?

T-50 staples are available in six different lengths.

Who ever builds an extended magazine for a staple gun will be a billionaire...

Hahaha, So true. I always add more when at the range but when you forgot, you were like 100 meters away, I don't mind walking but really don't want people wait for me, Lol.

"what staple to USE" It depends what you are going to staple and what you are stapling to. Generally if just paper targets and wood target holders 3/8 is good enough. any thing longer and quite often staple won't go all the way into the board.

I usually use 9/16 T-50s out of the new aluminum Stanley stapler, I know they are far too long for paper, but they are the best for cardboard which I use a fair bit as well. Better to be too long than too short.

I think we've run out of stuff to talk about guys...

Yeah. I never thought I'd be talking about staple guns on a shooting forum either. LOL.

But ROing a match in high winds certainly changes one's perspective.

Sharing one staple gun on three separate ranges was a day killer.

1/2" T50 or longer.

'Not even close...
We have yet to touch on stapling techniques, storage, transport, the newly proposed stapler control legislation or even the classification of staplers...
Then there's stapler holsters and the club level stapler safety course some fuddy clubs make you sit through before they'll let you use on the range.
Until you do, you're limited to using thumb tacks...
