Hi everyone ,
I've got a Remington 700 308 in a AICS 1.5 stock , I've ordered a viper vortex 6-20/50 scope ( it's what was in the budget ) , I'm going with a one piece rail with 20 moa I think ? but I'm not sure what size rings to use so I don't have any barrel clearance issues were the bottom of the scope comes in closest to the barrel , I figure at least medium or high , what are you guys using ? And how is it working for ? Also recommendations are welcome as well , going for a tactical look on a moderate budget ( ha ha lol ) ....... Thanks much Ernst:confused: ps. Scope is 30 mm tube

Use whichever rings are in your budget and gets the scope as low as possible without touching the barrel. Lots of guys like Burris Signature Zee rings because the inserts can give an extra 20MOA cant if required.

If using a 20moa rail I think you would be fine with lows. I mounted the same scope on a savage 10fp with burris tactical low rings on an EGW rail and there is about 1/8" clearance

Get the rings that allow you the most comfortable cheek weld and eye relief, the whole closest to the barrel mantra can lead to an uncomfortable shooting position in some cases (I think the AI stock is fairly adjustable though).

Thanks guys , I figured they'd have to be high rings so that's good to hear the low stuff fits . I want it to be comfortable first , but I don't want it looking silly either with the scope way over the barrel !

I have a HS precision stock, with a cheek riser, and I actually have to raise it up to get a good picture even with low rings. Don't be too concerned about that.
