What size scope on a 22-250?

I'm gonna guess from context clues that you likely hunt the same kinda land as I do. A VX3 4.5-14x40 would be perfect for that mixed bag of farm land/forest fringe area.
I run a VX3 4.5-14x50 w/VR on my .223 but prefer 40's for mounting and handling.

Sounds about right. Thank you and thanks to all who have replied.

I like a little more power than the standard 3-9 or 3.5-10, on the .22/250, mine wears a Leupold VX-3 4.5-14X40mm Varmint reticle.

Regardless what you guys say I have a Bushnell 4200 6-24 x 40 SF on my Remington 700 Varmint rebarreled with a Remington 1 in 12 twist by guntech.
There are two Bushnell 6500's 2.5 - 16 x 42 but one is on the .25-06 and the other on my CZ455 American .22.

I had a Leupold Vari-X III 6..5-20x40 scope with fine duplex sitting as a safe queeen when I bought a mint Sako m75ss 22-250 off a fellow CGN. I used this scope mounted in Low Sako Optilock rings and based setup.

This rifle is a good coyote killer with 55gr BSTs👍

I have a 4500 elite 6x24x40 with plain duplex on mine. My back yard is 60 yards long and at that distance 6x is not too much power and FOV is ok however those targets aren't running. Most of my shooting is at paper, water bottles etc and the extra zoom is really nice to have when shooting at something small farther out. You'll soon get bored shooting at 150 yards with that 22-250. I must say it took a bit to get used to the small eyebox on the 4500. My 17hmr is my window gun (house window not truck) and it wears a 3x12 with adjustable objective. I prefer side focus as it's less reaching if it needs to be moved and a 40mm lense because its easier to get a good cheek weld for me. Having a 3x9 on a 22-250 is like driving a crotch rocket in the slow lane, it works but....

On mine, I had an older Tasco 4 x 24 target scope with paralax adjustment. Clear, precise, and held zero unfailingly. It was perfect for my needs; vaporizing ground-hogs out to 400 yards.

Both my Swift and my 225 Winchester wear the excellent VX3, 6.5-20 x 40mm with Fine duplex reticules.
This has served me well out a ways [c.500 yards] and in close [30 yards] Not too heavy, and good optical
quality. Will not break the bank, either. Eagleye.

Leupy Vari-Xiii 6.5-20 with adj Obj has worked well for me on my 22-250. May be worth looking at Sightron scopes as well. Interested to hear feedback from others who have tried the Sightron.

I have an old cheap Bushnell Legend 5-15 X 40 on my 220 Swift. They don't get great reviews, but it works for me. Usually less than> 150 yds. at 5-7 power.

Just picked up the rifle yesterday and what a gem, has not been shot and has a Sako target trigger installed that breaks at about 2 ounces, may actually be to light for hunting but it can be adjusted. Gonna squirrel away a few buckets and likely put a VX3 4-12×40 on top in a couple months.
Thanks for the help gang and I will let you know how she shoots when I get her up and running.
