Im going deer hunting this Thurs,Fri,and Saturday in a shotgun only area.Never used slugs before but I have an 870 combo 12g with fully rifled barrel. So I have tomorrow to pick up some slugs and line up my gun but have no idea what slugs to buy.Needs help.

Brenneke slugs are highly regarded around here.

It's going to come down to which slugs your gun shoots best. You'd be best to buy a few different brands. However, make sure they are SABOT type slugs, for rifled barrels. You'll get the best accuracy out of your slug gun that way.

3 inch, 1 oz federal sabot slugs here. They have good range and are accurate - at least out of my mossberg with rifled barrel.

Lined it up with federal 1oz sabots at 70yrds.Picked them up at Wally-World for $6 a box.So I bought the last 11 boxes.
Two touching and third one a hair off from touching the other two.Good enough from me.Surprised me how well slugs can shoot. The red dot helps because I suck with irons.

That is what I've used for the last 3 years. Very accurate and excellent punch. With my scoped 870, I've taken deer at 125 yards (paced). I shot one yesterday and approx. 60 yards, it hit within 1 inch of where I was aiming and the deer didn't move from where I hit it. In the past I have had to use more than one, but I'm from the school if it looks like its still going on its own steam and it is in range with a good shot, I'll take a second shot for insurance.

Off the bench at 100 yards, I can group 3 round in to about 1.75" (scoped rifled barrel).

Was invited to go with a friend from Arnprior. Not sure exactly where but He said we will be using dogs.Should be fun as I have never done the shotgun thing.Especially in a deer infested area.He said they see loads of deer.
