I'll probably buy 2-3 springs anyway but which one should I be getting? Proposed range of springs by CorBon are #18 to #26. I wanted to try the #18 and #20 with a 165gr load (±1200fps, ±600ft/lbs)

But now I'm starting to rethink this... C-more mount drilled into the frame on left side, gas pedal thumb rest drilled into the frame on right side (I'm lefty), the frame is without a doubt weaker. Which one will be softer on the gun? I understand the #18 will bring the slide back into battery with less force than the #20 (or #26) but does it have enough to not have the slide batter the frame too much?

UPDATE:
Just went out for the first time with the comp, and only had 180gr test loads to try. Lower spectrum of powder charge wouldn't cycle the slide at all (with a #18 spring)
So with the comp, #18 spring is an overkill. Anyone knows what is the factory Spartan spring #?

I don't have a 400 Corbon so I'm just thinking out loud. I would go with the spring that's half way between, in this case I guess that would be the #22. Seems to me to be a reasonable compromise. Only load development will tell how much it will batter your pistol. How warm is the load in question as far as the 400 Corbon is concerned?

You should use the heaviest recoil spring with which your gun cycles properly, of course for given load. The more down you go the more battering of the frame you will have.

I would try a stock weight .45 acp spring, 18.5lbs should be fine considering the 400 corbon isn't that hot of a round anyway and you are compensated. Most of the conversions for it just gave you a barrel and nothing else.

i bought a #18 with my order at freedom, he didn't have any #20.
I'll see if I need the #20 after testing

comrade Garand said he was using also using the 18lbs with his 165gr loads
