What stock for Parker Hale Safari Deluxe??

It is basically the same as a Mauser 98 stock...... most synthetic stockmakers have a model for that.

I've got some High Tech Specialties 98 Mauser stocks in for $275. They require bedding, pad and paint. We can set you with a pad as well.

Interarms MK-X, 98 Mauser, Browning & F.N. – With cheekpiece. “Classic” style. Weight 20.2 ounces.

Interarms MK-X, 98 Mauser, Browning & F.N. – Without cheekpiece. “Classic” style. Weight 19.4 ounces.

Why oh why would you put a synth on blued Mauser steel!?! Get some English, Black or Claro walnut on that poor rifle post-haste!

I'm sticking one in a Butler Creek for a friend at the moment (I know, I know, what can I say?). The trigger mechanism is thicker on the PH, requires some milling in that area, and the barrel channel required opening up. I also had to work on the bottom a tad, but that may be because it's a DM version. - dan

Well it depends. The synthetic - a quality one that is, will out perform the wood.......

Outperform the wood?

IMO....I don't think it's a question of performance. It's fair to say that synthetic is more durable, stable and virtually maintenance free But(and to me and others this is a big BUT) it's what syth. looks and feels like. I hunt. For hours I hold that stock in my hands. The feel of plastic versus the feel of wood. A wooden stocked gun has a character, subtily different from others of even the same make and model. Even wood laminate stocks have a depth that no plastic (synthetic then) can emulate. That's not to say that there isn't a place for synthetic stocks...camp guns, truck guns, boat guns, the like I agree but for me, I want to feel and look at a wood stocked gun.

Try a corelite stock. They are around a $100.

Those are both injection molded stocks. They ARE cheeep, but are yucky as well.

If the rifle is a "keeper", invest in a good fiberglass stock or a laminated. You won't be disappointed. Just beware the laminates are heavier.

Well said. The injection stocks are inexpensive and often problematic. In this case you get what you pay for. Anyone else looking for a quality light weight stock.....we just received another shipment of High Tech Specialties stocks. from $285 plus ship/gst. SPECIAL
