Obviously. I thought for certain I had seen North Sylva themselves make an announcement to that effect (IWI US Rifles) but I'm struggling to find it. One of those instances where I didn't bother to bookmark it because I already have mine, and if THEY were making the statement it must be common knowledge. If I'm mistaken, I'm mistaken.
"If you can find one and get North Sylva to accept it for warranty, I will concede, but that hasn't happened yet."
The difference being is North Sylva would still be getting them in the "Canadian Configuration" of 18.6" Barrels and no bayo lug, so it would be immediately obvious if you tried to get them to service a grey market rifle, yeah?
Canada isn't actually getting any special treatment at this point, we are in more of a 2 birds with one stone situation with the US market being the albatross beside the humming bird sized market.
Iwi has figured it out that they can carefully compromise on their Barrel lengths so that they can be multi-purpose for both the US and Canada.
For the civillian market x95, IWI only makes the following barrel lengths in 5.56:
-13"
-16.5" (often listed as 16")
-18.5" (often listed as 18" in the US)
Similar with the T7 in 16" and 20" barreled configurations, we are not getting anything special.
As such the US 18" x95 already meet the criteria for non-restricted here in Canada, however they are easy to spot as being different than the Canadian direct imports from Israel, because the US units have the Harrisburg PA stamping on the rear of the receiver shell under IWI.
Are we essentially getting the same rifles, yes. Although ours come Direct and have different markings on the polymer shell, and the US ones get all the 922r compliance stuff installed once they land in Harrisburg. Harrisburg x95 is also no longer get the bayonet lug since the beginning of covid.
The only way to visually tell where a Tavor originated for retail is by the rear reciever shell stamp.
