PAPOOSE! there is no equal which has the combonation of low weight, accuracy, reliability, compact takedown, high rate of fire, and overall quality that the papoose offers.

the carry case is also handy in that it gives you a place to store other stuff like a cleaning kit and bullets. the buttplate can also be easily modified to house extra magazines. and while in the case the whole lot floats.

I'm waiting for a good used one to pop up in the EE that isn't $450. Someday i'll break down and get one new, but honestly im in no rush, my mod 60 is my survival gun as i personally have no real need for a takedown feature. Im of the mindset that it's no good to me folded up in my pack. but then again i drive a pickup, not a motorbike.

I agree at 100% !!! With my SS Papoose I had to correct a little play in the sights, but it was a very minor, and the only problem.

the AR-7 now comes with a pre chamfered chamber to prevent hangups, but the mags are still the same shi#y design as before. still a sub reliable toy plinker IMHO.

I know that's what "they" are saying.... but I called Henry's customer service and they were unable to tell me anything besides "we changed the colours and the sights." So who's to know?

I used to have the contact information for one of the foremen there....:yingyang:..I'll see if I can't contact him once again ? :)

If I was going to take a rifle into the bush I would take the Blue line shotgun.. it's 6.5 inchs (barrel) non restricted too... BL-6 i belive they call them

I have about as much use for a 6.5" shotgun as I do for a clown suit in the bush.

Less, actually.

If I was going to take a shotgun, I'd just bring my takedown H&R 12 gauge Survivor. I've got no problems with that - shot my deer with it this year. :D

I did have to do a little work and find the right ammo, but my AR-7 has been/is great. I'd like to try out a new one, just to compare.
Good luck in your search.

Cheers, Will

A little research shows Cabelas Canada is sold out of the Papoose, but has the AR-7. Wholesale sports has the Papoose, but no AR-7. My "local" dealer has neither, but is getting the Papoose in.

What sort of prices are people paying for this around the country?

I think it's going to come down to how well any individual rifle packs in my saddlebags. I ordered a takedown case for my Rossi today, so I may wait and see how that works before I buy another rifle. But I think I'm going to get another one as well.

Have a papoose, Henry survival, M6 scout and two savage 24 campers.
All shoot where I need them. Prefer the 24c for versatility, but the M6 seems to be my choice for canoe trips, tucked under the seat in the car, or in the komatic when skidooing. Usually with a variety of shells; 3 shot sizes and a few slugs..........
Too bad they stopped making them....
