What size cleaning patches should i buy to clean a glock 17 gen5? 9mm Looking at the bullet diameter, a 9mm is .355 inches so does that mean i buy patches that are .270 to .35 or buy .35 to.45?

.35 to .45. Either would work but I prefer patches that fit the bore tightly to help clean out crud in the grooves/chamber. If by chance they're a little snug you can always trim them down whereas you can't make small patches bigger unless you double them up and that uses them up twice as fast.

I buy a yard of cotton where my wife buys her sewing stuff and cut it up. A couple of buck keeps me in patches all year.

4"x 1" and I have a patch for the bore and the slides and frame.

Patch size does not matter very much.
The button on the end of the cleaning rod is what makes the difference.
The same button is used for .38/357, 9mm, and some .35 rifles.
The thickness of the patch, is mostly what determines how tightly it fits the bore.
