what tactical .22 are available in canada

I bought a ruger 10/22 tactical then put it in a ATI AR-22 stock I think it looks pretty cool. I've been playing around with it using a couple different scopes and bipods and hand grip.

Rhineland R22 (mid) its a little heavy according but I love the heavy barrel you can shoot it all day the barrel never heats too much plus its great on accuracy

597 Vtr (top) avoid it due to mags being garbage

i like the 10/22 tactical with the ar-22 stock......but the Rhineland R22 really has my eye.
don't see anything as far as sellers in canada though, are they even available anymore?lol

Those R22's are sweet looking. Especially for those nostalgic HK lovers who have an eye for the G3/91, 93 MP5, etc. I had though of getting one before learning that they can be hit and miss on reliability and being discontinued for a decade makes parts scarce, plus the $1000 price tag used makes them less atractive. There were not a lot of them imported, but they do show up in the EE on occasion. Good news is the rifles have a lot in common with the 10/22 and many of it's parts can be acquired from that type or modified from it. It also uses the 10/22 mags.

All this that I rambled off on is what I learned during my time looking for one. I have no first hand knowledge so I could be entirely wrong about all that. Please correct me if I am wrong.

As per the R-22 there are only 100 in canada (fact confirmed by TSE which was the original importer)

It uses
10/22 bolt
Ar 15 trigger group
Hk mp5 sd stock
Ar15 pistol grip

Reliability was a hit or miss but simple fixes are available now all 3 of my R22 run flawlesly, even better then my 10/22

As per price yes they are expensive but they are so much fun.

Best of luck finding one, you might also be interested in the specter arms mp5 look a like can't recall the name sorry.

Hmmm.. I like... Can they be bought in Canada? Not seeing anythiong on the IRG page. Are their parts interchangeable with 10/22's? (don't care about the barrels).

Don't bother. I have one and it's non-functional right now, maybe forever.....I am in continual contact with their rep trying to get mine fixed, no luck and no eta. It looks nice, but the stock is short, it fails to hold open after last round and replacement mags are plastic. (not metal like the one that came with it) It isn't worth the $450ish I paid, never mind the $800+ msrp. They have been advertised by one retailer here as 18 inch barrel, but are the shorter 16inch. The rail on them is very short and set back over the action so any scope will need a rail extender for reasonable eye relief. Combine this with the short stock and it gets frustrating fast.

The trigger was nice, it was light and crisp. That was until it stopped working. I also can't say that it was any more accurate than the several 10/22s I have shot.

These are not capable of using any AR or 10/22 parts.

My two cents is you can buy far better rifles for the same money.
