what the eff is this?

i was loading up some ammo today and noticed this was on one of them

it looks like the copper on the bullet itself had an imperfection or maybe the case neck had a tiny indent in it that i didnt notice. regardless its in the do not fire bin

I've had this happen - usually a burr on either the case neck, or base of the bullet. Happens more with flat based than boat tails. Some of the jacket ends up being scraped off.
If you aren't shooting it in a match; just scratch it off and de-burr the case mouth after firing.

glad its not just me. ill see how evenly it comes off and go from there. if the case has a little nick in it is it still safe to fire without having some sort of case rupture?

Negative - the case will easily survive. did you bevel the inside of the case mouth?

Yup i do every case. Im just wondering if it got dented a bit rolling around with 400 of its brothers and sisters
