Other cool Enfield pics
I think it is important for Candians to realize that the SMLE is as much a part of India's personality as it is ours (if not more). Here are a few pictures to support that identity. GO INDIA!

wow, cool. India has a long history with the Enfield thats for sure. They lost a lot of men in the somewhat disastrous Mesopotamian campaign and on the Western front. How are gun laws there? Probably pretty strict, id imagine?

I've seen references that civilian ownership of firearms chambered for military cartridges is prohibited. So, naturally the Indians have .303 based exotics.

thats a real shame. India must be a treasure trove of old british weaponry of all sorts.

You bet there is, and for what it is worth there are places in India and Pakistan that still make them...by hand.

Not match quality mind you, but it is a fav' rifle for that area.

Also what is the real difference in shoulder placement from firing it like this standing and firing it prone?

Big difference
I never put the rifle on the trapezius when shooting.
Additionally I have a strange urge to look in the vicinity that I am pointing the rifle.

Gotta love the IAF Cadets newspaper clipping, it says "while jets fly overhead" and they show a bunch of prop driven aircraft flying overhead...good for a chuckle. Reminds me of Airplane the movie.

Don't know about India, but Pakistan is pretty much wide open as far as private gun ownership.
