What the heck is a "fudd"?

^^ LOL, thanks for that video Claybuster. I always enjoy a good Robin Williams video. 
Here is my definition of a fudd....
He would look at the first link and be disgusted at what a 20 year Canadian guy old owns 100% legally. Funny how I don't care what they think, seeing as I am qualified to purchase them, and the Government trusts me to own and safely operate them.
Then he would look at the second link and be disgusted at what that same guy wishes he could own in Canada, seeing as there is no such thing as a bad gun, only a bad user. Ban pyschos!

I guess we may as well just call them arseholes.
I am not really sure what all the shotgun guys are all defensive about, if you don't care what other people do or shoot, then you are not a Fudd, don't worry any more about it, you are just a guy that likes shotguns, no big deal. If you are an ass that has something against "tacticool" guys for no real good reason, then you are a fudd, you deserve a derogatory name. Is this clear enough?
So ask yourself, are you a Fudd? If you are a Fudd, don't get so defensive when so many people hate you, what do you expect?

I really don't understand what you guys who don't like the term 'Fudd' are b*tching about... isn't this analogy justified enough? ok, so maybe some guys in the so called "tacticool" crowd are somewhat less serious with their "souped up" Ruger 10/22's equipped with $500 custom stocks, flashlights and green lasers... so what? At least they're not coming down on the more traditional crowd, saying that your powerful hunting sniper rifles should be "banned", just because you don't really need anything with that much precision and firepower to hunt with in North America. To me, any shooter or collector who wants to "ban" any other type of gun he/she doesn't own or believe in is worse than the most hardcore left-wing anti!

Also, they think they know everything there is to know about firearms and will not hesitate to belittle the newer shooters/collectors, just because they were born before the Beatles were famous (right after dad came back from WWII). This is despite the fact that they've limited their personal gun ownership to the same two old & pitted Remington bolt action rifles all their lives.

Assuming this is the correct definition of a fudd:
A fudd is a gun owner who believes that a hunting rifle,( so long as it is wood and blued, and in a lever, bolt, or single shot action) is the only gun that people should be allowed to own, and that all firearms outside of this narrow scope should be banned.
What would be the the rough percentage of Canadian firearms owners that meet this definition?
I know quite a few hunters and others who own only shotguns or rifles.
I have never had any of them give any hint that they disapprove of my hand guns, let alone want them banned.
Not to say they don't exist, just wondering in what kind of numbers?

I'm not so sure they want them "BANNED" per se. They are the group who, in order to protect their current rights to own guns, are quite willing to throw all others under the bus. Fudds suffer from the misconception that all other shooting sports are more responsible for the criminal elements and are therefore responsible for the ever increasing restrictions. After all, "if all gun owners were just like them, there would be no reason to ban guns". It's all the other gun owners that create the negative atmosphere around guns & gun ownership. A fudd believes they can keep their rights if they just help sacrifice the rest of us. They are trying to win over the hearts & minds of the lefties & Wendy.

1)elitist "posh" type, who despise anything but expensive merkel or Holland & Holland or perazzi/krieghoff , met plenty at a international trap comp.
2)some ignorant hunters who think only their guns serves a meaningful purpose, when asked aren't you not hunting because it's fun? how is that differ to me having fun shooting a pistol? they usually don't know what to say. my neighbour
3)old farts just plain cranky, they like to tell you it's wrong because they think it's wrong, your taicool gear, your leaser sight, your gps in your car, your trendy shoes, your xbox, you are Chinese and your wife is Irish, its all wrong you'll meet them everywhere.
