Is this a widespread problem , or is this a LeBaron thing?

Every single time I go there for ammo or relaoding supplies, they are ALWAYS backordered on something!

They are perpetually backordered on 100 boxes of White Winchester.

They have no reloding bullets to speak of. Today, they are completely backordered on any pistol powder. Nothing at all.

Also, these guys take us for idiots. The clerk, when I queried him about the backorder on Excel bullets, blammed it on delays at the "border".

Excel bullets are made in the Toronto area, boy I can't wait for Cabelas!!

Is the rest of the country backordered on all things related to firearms?

I've had nothing but bad luck with LeBaron.... The last order was the last straw, I ordered ten boxes of Win .308, they said they had them in stock and would ship right away, I received 2 boxes in the mail with a note saying they were unable to fill the rest of the order. I called them to ask if it was just backordered and would they send the rest of the ammo, to which a lady in Montreal replied, no, I would have to call back when they had it in stock and place an order again.

I've noticed similar problems at LeBaron. It's definately staff problems. You ask for one thing and they'll try to sell you another. You ask a technical question, and they'll give you bull$hit. Oh, and by the way I go directly to the store.

Save yourself some trouble and just deal with Andrew (Higginson Powder in Hawkesbury)... Excellent service and great price, what else could you ask for?

You can also use the excuse to take your girlfriend for a little snack at Chateau Montebello on the way back! (this way she won't mind the drive)

It's a fishing store! :bangHead:

I gave up on Le Baron when their "old" staff was replaced many years back. The service and inventory has been going downhill since then. I call them only if i'm out of stock on primers..if they have them, I go down immediately to buy whatever they have. Mostly buy from Andrew at Higgenson's.THey may service other sporting enthusiasts well, but for the reloader/shooter it's not the place to go. Better off with Danté or Higgs..

I agree, I don't waste my time going to LeBarons. It is more of a "fishing store" than a "gun shop".

"...staff problems..." It's what happens when you pay minimum wage, no benefits and give no training.
Le Barons being useless is nothing new. They had the Ruger .308 chambered Mini-14 in their catalogue for two years after Ruger announced it wasn't going to be produced.

Le Baron has always had poor service. I went to the store 20 years ago and wanted some 180 gr. speer 30 cal. bullets. I went to the reloading counter and I could see the boxes on the shelf behind the guy. I asked for the bullets. His reply we don't sell bullets here you have to go to the front counter, reluctantly I went to the front counter they only sell loaded ammo there. Back to the reloading counter, I said to the guy I have changed my mind just give me a couple of those boxes on the shelf behind you. No problem sir, have a nice day! The idiot working at the reloading counter didn't know the difference between a bullet and a loaded cartridge!

Ive had good luck with Lebarron.

But Im the guy that calls first before going and puts a hold on the 8lbs of powder and 10k of primers.

I have had luck getting what I needed but, there sale force are loosers.

Call first or you will be walking around looking at fishing lures

but +1 for Higginson they are great!

I had my first LeBarron trip yesterday to the Ottawa shop and thought things were fine. That said, I haven't been to any of the larger shops in over 3 years, so I may have been (very) easily impressed. I left there after spending double of what I had initially allotted for the trip so it can't be that bad.
The only thing I wanted but they didn't have (not sure if they ever have it though) is some heavier match .223.
I'll definitely be back.

My comments on LeBaron concerned the Montreal location. The stores in Ontario probably have a better inventory cause there are more shooters than here in the poor man's province (Qc.) !

We basically have ONE store that has good stock..Danté, but his prices sometimes are a bit sureal compared to Ontario and Western Provinces

I like the Mississauga store because there is a good looking girl with some ridiculously long hair that works the cash. :D I love working into the gun section and saying "dude, wheres the handguns at?" Always pisses em off.

Also, let me be the second person to say

"Bro, its a fishing store."

I haven't been to LeBaron's, but these are some of my same complaints about Wholesale Sports. Really, what's so hard about "supply and demand" that these stores can't get it? The last time I was at Wholesale Sports, they had no 9mm or 45ACP, but boatloads of 25ACP and 32ACP. In the Edmonton location, they like to blame everything on the Calgary Wholesale Sports; saying things like, "We had some on order, but Calgary ended up taking all of them". Many people in Edmonton are probably familiar with the fiasco of trying to get a catalog from these yahoo's.

In my mind, the only cause of all of this is extremely poor management. You can yell at the guy behind the counter who doesn't know the difference between bullets and loaded cartridges, but he's not the one ordering this stuff and predicting demand.

I`ve been going to LeBaron for 30 of my 44 years. Bought my first gun`s and gun related products there. Always had the lowest prices around. It`s the best outdoors sports store in the Montreal area if;

1- You know exactly what you need,

2- You don`t need any advice about a product,

3- Aftersales service is of no concern to you, and

4- They happen to have what you need.
