What the heck?

Hey CGN,

Can anyone enlighten me if these primers are good to go? I've never seen them like this, but have only been reloading for the last couple of years. They are suppose to be CCI 500 SPP.

What do they look like in the package; or at least before and after priming?

Also, not sure where you live but you can usually let off a primer without too much fuss.

Before priming they look like a galvanized nail head..after it seems like they get 'dented' a bit. I had gotten them in a trade. I live in Orleans..a suburb of Ottawa.

They are not that loud. Put the muzzle into something that will muffle the sound

Looks like they were seated with a dirty primer ram. I have had a flake of powder on the end of mine that has cause dents in the primer. Not sure about the discolouration. Could be from an oil/solvent/cleaning solution that got on the primer ram while loading.

Kind of hard to tell from the pic but it seems to look like it’s tarnished. Maybe just a bad finish on them that’s tarnishing early. I wouldn’t worry about shooting them, but I might worry about long term storage.

Maybe a bit of the packaging stick to the primer...?

Yup..I got them in a trade but only 500 and not all are discolored..I'm going to load and shoot them first. Thanks
