Just came back from Brass Pro in Calgary. I was on a mission to buy reloading dies for 30/06 and some small rifle primers for 204 ruger. I casually asked for 1000 cci sr primers, buddy behind the counter says: that would be 67$.. Holly f**** last I checked normal price was around 35$. Maybe the primer cups were 24k gold plated or something..:) Needless to say my visit was short lived.:)

Whoa, that's nearly double what we're paying here! Someone is making a nice margin!
 
that extra $32 was the bass pro "dangerous black rifle tax" because the small rifle primers could be used in the evil baby killing caliber of .223.

I was in there Friday, half the boxes for bullets were open and priced for big $.

From what I can see, Bass Pro's prices are 25%-40% higher than WSS on most reloading components and firearms accessories that I have checked. I once bought 1lb of IMR-4350 from BP because I needed it and no one in the Calgary area had any. Price was $38 (I think) and WSS's going rate was $28. Of course, BP always has stock because their prices are through the roof.

That store is nothing more than an outdoors Wal Mart with firearms as an afterthought, and an expensive one at that. I never buy anything there unless I simply cannot find it anywhere else and I am desperate to have it.

Although there are some good deals like socks and rifle cases at Bass Pro, some items are way above average retail for pricing.

Take a look at lead birdshot next time you're in.

That pretty well sums it up, if I'm driving by I'll drop in to check the price on flats of shotgun ammo but more often than not, I leave empty handed. Not worth making a trip out of your way to get there.
 
You made five mistakes:
1. You went to Bass Pro.
2. You went to Bass Pro.
3. You went to Bass Pro.
4. You went to Bass Pro.
5. You went to Bass Pro.
 
I bet the dude quoted you for Magnum primers. Wholesale did the same thing to me!
The friendliest place to stop in Calgary is Proline. I would rather give my business to a small gun shop that the guys are friendly and will take the time and shoot the breeze with you.
My order of stops: Proline, Wholesale, Shooters Edge, Alberta Tactical, BassPro (only if desperate)

x2 for the guys at proline. I'll go there 1st every time, as it's just so much better dealing with a small, friendly shop.

This quote is worthless without pictures.
And if there was one or more boxes opened it was because of customers going in and asking what they had and then asked to see ,pretending they where going to buy said box of bullets.
WSS in Langley have treated me well when trying to figure out bullet selection for the new to me Hornet, opening a Reloading manual with pictures of bullet and checking to see on the shelf, next step was to the front cash to square up with the pretty girls...

yeah for how much no sale sports gets bashed around here, I had a really good guy helping me in Lethbridge.
