Rifle, ammo, good knife, sharpener to touch up the edge when skinning,
proper clothing and boots for the weather, compass and or GPS & map of the area if you're not familiar with it,
binoculars, tags, some rope to tie off and drag the animal (I use a deer drag shoulder harness too; inexpensive and handy), ziplocs for organ meats you may want to keep and for tenderloins (no point sending the tenderloins to the butcher),
plenty of water, something to eat, matches/lighter, calls/grunter if you have 'em, camera, various survival gear and first aid materials,(a big emergency may or may not happen, but falls resulting in sprains, cuts etc. are fairly common)
That's probably all I'd take on a day trip, and should fit neatly into a fanny pack.
Don't forget to pack patience and determination. Have a good hunt.
