I have purchased my first handgun. NEWB! GSG 1911 in .22 flat earth colour.

I am awaiting the call that says I can come and pick it up.

1. What will I get from the gun store? Paperwork wise?

2. What should I bring/buy the get it home? I have trigger locks, and padlocks for the case. Anything else?

3. Anything else I need to do before I leave? Trigger lock it and lock the case?

Don't want to look like an ass.

thanks!

I don't know how big the case they come in is, but if it's big enough slap a trigger lock on it and lock the case. The Shop should give you a temporary ATT to take it home.

Out the door and home you go.

Now if it's a tiny case and you have a big trigger lock you may need a bigger case.

I'd also give it a once over, look for scratches and scrapes, make sure everything is in the box, pistol, magazines, warranty paperwork etc. Buy a pack of .22 snap caps so you can dry fire it when you get home.

When I bought my SIG version the case was big enough to fit a trigger lock. In the event the GSG comes in a different case you should bring a spare one you know will work assuming you already have one. You will need to bring a pad lock too. I find you need to get the thinnest padlock you can find, a big thick master lock won't fit thru the small hole in the case.

When I bought another pistol the case was so small I couldn't fit a trigger lock in it. The store had plenty of bigger cases to chose from though.

"...The Shop should give you a temporary ATT..." Doesn't come from the shop. You will get a number if nothing else.
"...I'd also give it a once over..." Absolutely. You should already know what is supposed to come with it as far as extra mags etc, but you need to check that it's all there. Isn't the shop stealing stuff, but excrement does happen. Read the assorted proof's of purchase and the ATT.
You'll need a cleaning kit if you don't already have one. All new firearms require a complete cleaning before you shoot 'em.

Your right, my bad on the wording.

It doesn't come from the shop but from the CFO, When I bought my tokarev at Fishing world the CFO electronically sent them the paperwork and they printed out and gave me the temporary ATT when I picked up the pistol. Same thing when I picked up my Beretta from AL Simmons.

The registration slip came in the mail a few weeks later.

One thing I'd do differently is this:
Check the factory test (if it's a CZ) shot target the gun comes with.
Mine had a real bad grouping and I would definitely like to see the patterns of the guns they have sitting in the back too. Then pick the best out of them.

Guys with more experience feel free to correct me if my thinking on this matter is wrong. Cheers.

Coffee is a bad idea... You're already going to be shaking from the excitement, you don't need any caffeine to add to that... lol

The GSG is a nice little .22lr, enjoy it and congrats!!

Not wrong, just a complete waste of time in my opinion. If that's something you feel you need to do then make sure it's done before the store applies for the transfer and ATT, lol.
