what to build 300win , 300ultra ,338 win ???

For what its worth, I just picked up a Rum (8.8lb scoped) and I find it punishes me a lot less than my older 300wm did off the bench at the range. for that matter, I find it recoils about the same as any "super light" does in 06. Mind you the rifle fits me a lot better. You can load the rum up or down and have a total hammer for all purposes. I suppose the same can be said for the WM but it just didn't scratch the itch for me..

there is something cool about loading over 100 grs of powder into a cartridge..

** you also get the newer beltless cartridge headspaced off the shoulder with the RUM, A nice upgrade over the WM and WBY. I have an uncle that has killed everything in north America, and just about all there is to shoot in NZ and Africa with his 300 wby as has been mentioned above, you cant go wrong.

Picked up a nice rem 700 mag action last week and ended up getting a nice laminate stock for free on top of that lol.

I've been wanting to build a magnum for a while now and not sure what I am going to go with , the 300 ultra interests me but then I'll have to grind the feed lips a bit on the action to get them to go in , the 338 win mag is also one I was looking at then there was the stw but I already have a 284 so don't know about another 7mm.

Gonna use this for sitting in a stand overlooking some long fields for deer

I know that you said that you don't want another 7 mm, but maybe reconsider for the 7mm Rem Mag. Give it a look otherwise the 300 mag will do all you want from a stand.
